I treated my shelves to some new books thanks to my recent bloggiversary and I got my box of books this weekend. Here’s what I got:
The Way from Here by Jane Turner. This is a story of four friends and their shared lifetimes.
Bookshop Cinderella by Laura Lee Guhrke. A historical romance which I just have to check out because the heroine owns a bookshop!
A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong. A modern day detective finds herself back in time trying to solve a mystery.
Fellowship Point by Alice Elliott Dark. Another story of female friendships.
Wandering Souls by Cecile Pin. This was a Women’s Prize nominee last year and it’s the story of three Vietnamese siblings seeking refuge in the U.K.
Factory Girls by Michelle Gallen. A young woman working a summer job in factory in Northern Ireland while tensions are rising all around.
Desolation Canyon by P.J. Tracy. This is another series by P.J. Tracy and it features detective Margaret Nolan. I’ve read a couple of books by this author but haven’t read any in this series so I’m looking forward to it.
Speak of the Devil by Rose Wilding. Seven women stand around a bed in a seedy hotel room. On the bed is the severed head of a man and they all have a reason to be responsible for this.
Holly by Stephen King. I haven’t read a King book in a long time and this one sounded quite good.
I think now I have to hold back on some book purchases so I can make some room on my shelves for all of these books as I clearly don’t read as quickly as I buy them! Ha… Let me know if you’ve read some of these and what you thought.
I have a couple of these but haven’t read them as yet. A Rip Through Time – have that one and at least the next one in that series. I also have Fellowship Point – got that one at a library book sale. I haven’t read that new series by P.J. Tracy – loved the Monkeewrench books, but she kind of finished that series I think when her mother passed away. You knew that P.J. Tracy was a mother/daughter writing team? Anyway, it’s been a few years now. I’ll watch for what you think about that one. I might have to check out Speak of the Devil mostly because of 7 women standing around a severed head – ???? Enjoy, Iliana!
Who ever reads their books as quickly as they buy them? I know I don’t! ;D Both Holly and A Rip Through Time are ones high on my TBR list. I’m hoping to read both of them this year. You know, if other library books and new books don’t get in the way.
I loved Fellowship Point! I haven’t read anything else by Alice Elliot Dark, but am eager to read Into the Gloaming.
I have a copy of Holly on my nightstand and hope to read it later this year. I got it for Christmas, so we’ll see how long it lingers… I did happen to buy a book this month and have already read it, which is amazing to me! I never do that, but I really wanted to read it and didn’t own a copy, so I splurge and bought it in hardcover. 🙂
Happy reading!
New books are always a great way to celebrate a blog anniversary! You’ve got some great ones there, by the looks of it. I have A Rip Through Time on my TBR. I love Kelley Armstrong’s books. Not that I’ve read as many of them as I want to yet. I hope you enjoy your new books!
