Before I show you my book finds I wanted to let Eva know that she won the ARC of Free For All and Julie got Immortal. Thank you so much for being interested in those books so just send me an email with your address and I’ll get those out this weekend. Hopefully I’ll have more ARCs to share – I guess I just need to read faster! ha,ha.
Now on to the book loot. Here’s a pic of the 26 books for $26!
There are quite a few Elizabeth George books so you are right to assume that I really enjoyed A Great Deliverance and now want to read more in the series. I need to post my review so stay tuned. I also found a few books in the Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes which I like.
I had to snatch up Up at the Villa as I remember Matt reviewed it a while back. Same thing for Witch Child which TY reviewed recently and Coraline which Stephanie reviewed a few days ago. My other major finds were Angelica, Everything Is Illuminated, The Glass Castle and One Good Turn — it seems I can never find those books on BookMooch or at Half Price Books.
Finally, I got a couple of other mysteries and fiction books which sounded good and had been on my radar. It was a great time at the book sale, but now I have to figure out where to put these books. Sigh.
What a list, Iliana! 🙂 I have never read Elizabeth George so I’m eager to hear your views about them. And mentioning of Coraline, I really enjoyed reading that one…it’s one of my favourites! And I too have a space problem, so the only thing I do is to pile them up on our study desk, haha…
Congrats to Eva and Julie for winning the books! 😀
Wooooow-that is one awesome stack of books. 🙂 And I’m so excited that I won-I squealed out loud!! I’ve been on a lucky streak lately-going to have to organise a couple give aways of my own to balance out the karma. 😀 What’s your e-mail address?
What a loot! 26 books for $26 – that’s just perfect!
I adored Everything is Illuminated – I hope you enjoy it too!
I see Water for Elephants! That has to top my list of “books I was not expecting to LOVE but did!”
I’ve been wanting to read Everything Is Illuminated, too, but, like you, I haven’t come across it at Half Price! Nice picks!
Water for Elephants for $1! Nice finds.
You did some major bargain shopping!!!!
Eva won my giveaway a couple weeks ago – hmmm, maybe she should purchase a lottery ticket!
Melody – I know, space is becoming precious around here! Ha,ha.. Glad to hear you also liked Coraline. I think I’ll enjoy it too!
Eva – Yay you! I just sent you an email 🙂
Nymeth – You know, I’d never really wanted to read the book until I saw the movie. That was so good. I can only imagine that the book will be better.
Kristen – Oh good, another good word for Water for Elephants 🙂
Tiffany – I know!
Julie P. – I sure did. I love this book sale – it’s one I’m always looking forward to. And, congrats on receiving the ARC!
Stephanie – She’s on a lucky streak isn’t she 🙂
I can’t read all of the titles, but I really like Elizabeth George and the Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes. Water for Elephants was very good, too!
What a great stack of books! I’m looking forward to the review of Elizabeth George’s book too. I haven’t read anything by her but your recent comments are making me want to! 🙂
I did a review of “Everthing”.I still love the dog, Sammy Davis Jr Jr!
Let me know how you like “Water for Elephants”
Could you please check out my blog? I need your advice.
Great haul!! I’ve still got Water for Elephants in my TBR stack. I should make it a goal to read some of these “new” books before I’ve owned them for one year. Hmmm, maybe I need to spend less time on the computer and more time reading.
Have a great weekend!
What a great stack of books! I hope you enjoy the rest of Elizabeth George’s mysteries. And I know what you mean by not being able to find some titles used or on bookmooch! I plan on just getting Angelica next time I hit the bookstore–I never find it either and I can’t seem to get it read when I check it out from the library. Enjoy your books!
jenclair – I was being lazy and didn’t put them all up but it’s mainly titles from George’s newer books. I need to get a hold of the second in the series. I have to read them in order! 🙂
tanabata – I’ll post that soon! I loved it so I figured it was safe to get more of her books – ha,ha..
Isabel – I’ll stop over today to check it out!
Les in NE – I know what you mean… Especially this week I feel like I’ve gotten no reading done. Ugh. You have a good one too!
Danielle – I would break down a bit more often and get the titles at the bookstore or Amazon but I’m trying to be good as I’m not working now 😉
Wow! Great stuff, and some fairly new titles too! I am also interested in Coraline – saw the trailer for the film and 2 reviews just in the past week.
Wow! You made a great haul! Enjoy!
Looks like you will be busy for awhile! I hope you enjoy The Glass Castle. I liked it quite a bit. I hope to get to One Good Turn eventually. I really enjoyed Case Histories by the same author.
Ooooh, such a great stack of books! I see all my favorite Elizabeth George books in there, as well as Laurie Colwin and Martha Grimes.
Such fun, and I’m eager to hear your thoughts on all the reading 🙂
Tara – There’s a film of Coraline coming out?! I better read this before then!
April – I can’t wait to get to some of these books!
Literary Feline – Ha,ha.. So true right. I liked Case Histories a lot which was a nice surprise as I hadn’t liked some of her other books. Goes to show that it’s a good thing to give an author another chance.
ravenous reader – I just discovered Martha Grimes recently too and love her characters. Isn’t the aunt something else too? ha,ha..
The Coraline film isn’t out until next Febrary, so you have awhile!! I actually posted a preview about 2 weeks ago. It’s a stop-action animation, and is going to be extrememly creepy!!
Looks like you got some great books!! The Glass Castle is a really great read too!
Stephanie – See, I remember your post on the book but forgot about the film preview. I need to go check that out! 🙂
WOW, that’s quite the lustworthy haul!
Wowee, “loot” is right! I tried to enlarge the photo and didn’t succeed, but it looks like I’ve only read one of those books, Coraline. I didn’t like it as much as Stephanie did, but I enjoyed it. Have fun reading!
You snatched a great deal!!! That’s a lovely pile of books. I’ve got my eye on The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets and Kinds of Love! 🙂
What a great pile of books. 26 books for $26? I’m surprised you didn’t buy more! Again that question I think I asked you before: how’s the rest of the TBR pile coming along AND how many are in it? LOL!!
What a great buy! Enjoy all your new books!!
Andi – Hee,hee.. It is isn’t it!
Nancy, aka bookfool – Coraline is one of the books and tons of Elizabeth George’s mysteries. I think I got hooked after that first one 🙂
Matt – I know, I love this book sale. It’s an annual event and believe me, I mark the calendar!
Kisane – I know you’d think I’d have bought more right? The thing is they do have tons of romance novels so those I skip over. The last time I counted I had more than 500 unread books. shh, don’t tell 🙂
Jelenie – I’m trying to decide which one to start in on first!
