Like a good Bookgirl, whenever I see a book list of Top 10, 100, etc. I have to inspect it and see how well I score. Even though I read a lot, my books never seem to show up on these lists.
Today I found two more lists. One is on Danielle’s blog and the other one on Fausti’s Book Quest. I thought I’d do better at the Time’s List since it’s the 100 Best English Novels from 1923 through the present (maybe not too many “classics”). Well, not quite. I’ve only read 13!
They are:
Animal Farm by George Orwell
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret by Judy Blume
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Beloved by Toni Morrison
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
Possession by A.S. Byatt
Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I think I need to put up my own Bookgirl’s Nightstand Top 100 list and see how those critics compare – heh. Anyway, how well did you do?
