Who doesn’t love to look at a book list and see how many books from the list you’ve read? I can’t pass up a good book list and I missed a recent one that NPR put together but luckily J.C. Montgomery blogged about it so I also had to add in my two cents.
The list is the Top 100 Killer Thrillers as selected by NPR audience. I may read a lot of mysteries but I don’t read as many thrillers so want to know how many I read from the list? 17. I was very happy to see Tana French, Stieg Larsson, Daphne Du Maurier and Wilkie Collins on the list.
There are a lot of authors I’ve been meaning to try such as Lee Child, Dennis Lehane, Michael Connelly, and others but you know how it is.
I was thinking if I could add a great thriller to the list, I would add Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Anyway, what I’d love to know is if your favorite thriller made it on the list. If not, tell me and I’ll add it to mine.
Wow, I’m really excited to see that several on here are ones that I’ve read — dare I say it out loud? Ahem, I’m a tad proud of myself!! 🙂 I’m glad to see this list, it certainly doesn’t help the TBR list, but hey, why not add more to it? Better to always have something to jump onto next then to aimlessly wonder what I’ll be whiling away my time with, right?! 🙂
Thanks for linking to this list. I do not read many thrillers myself and like you I would love to try to put many many authors.
Let’s see – I also read 17 from the list. Nearly 20% – but some just didn’t seem to fit. It alongside Casino Royale? Weird list. If It is a thriller, I won’t no part of thrillers. I’m no Stephen King fan. *shivers
Have you read Mo Hayder’s books, Iliana? She’s one of my favourite thriller authors! 🙂
I haven’t read Heart-Shaped Box, but I have it. I really need to move it up my list. I keep hearing great things about it.
Heart-Shaped Box was such a great book! I don’t read many thrillers either – I think the only ones I’m familiar with from that list are exactly the ones you mentioned.
Lee Child and Dennis Lehane are both high on my list of favorite mystery thriller authors. Connelly? He has his good days and bad. Generally lists depress me because I go into them thinking I am all that, then am humbled because I learn that I don’t know anything!
Wow, Lee Child made it several times. Since January, I’ve read 9 of his books and find them a bit uneven, but I think I’ve read so many so close together.
I’ve read 31 on the list, but also have some new authors to try!
Lists are always my downfall since they lead to me piling even more books on my shelves (both real and TBR imaginary)!
Thanks for linking to the list: I love this genre and I’ve only read about a quarter of the books, so have a lot of good reading to look forward to. I read Heart-Shaped Box for last year’s Spooky reading and thought it was very well-done. I’ve never tried Lehane’s work yet either, but do definitely want to.
Oh yes lots I’ve read on there, mostly because I was a young Steven King devote. Joe Hill’s novel deserves a spot alongside his fathers books for sure.
Love book lists! I saw this one, but I’m not a big thriller reader, so I didn’t look too closely. 🙂
Thanks for linking this list Iliana 🙂 I enjoyed Heart Shaped Box also.
The Shining and Salem’s Lot are on the list, those are among my favorite S.K. books. I also enjoyed Heartsick.
I can’t believe it. I don’t consider myself a thriller reader. At least not presently. However, I have read 20 books on that list. I read all of the Stephen King mentioned. I did used to be a King groupie I guess. I am shocked..really surprised at learning this. Thanks for the list.
I’ve read 18 and have quite a few more that I’d like to read as well–interesting list! I read a fair number of thrillers, but I think what I consider a thriller must be slightly different than what shows up on the list.
