It was book group day today but as usual I hadn’t finished the book so as soon as I got home from work I grabbed my book and headed over to a coffee shop for a treat and to read. I should do this more often. Not wait until the last minute to finish a book, but head over to a coffee shop after work. It’s fun to relax with a good book and not be distracted by the chores, computer, to-do’s, etc. that are always on my mind as soon as I step into the house.
Anyway, my book group met to discuss I Will Have Vengeance by Maurizio de Giovanni. I will post my review soon but this book was not a favorite of the book group as many thought the mystery aspect was a bit weak. For now I will say that I enjoyed it quite a bit and I’ll tell you more why later soon.
Next month my book group will discuss Ghostman by Roger Hobbs followed by Arctic Chill by Arnaldur Indridason in April. I’m looking forward to Artic Chill the most because I have been following this series so it’ll be nice to revisit with detective Erlendur.
Short post tonight guys because it is late and I want to squeeze in a bit of reading before lights out.
I’m always interested in whatever mystery you are reading! Love mysteries. And I don’t take a book out to a coffee shop enough either. I always enjoy myself when I do, but back in my brain I beat myself up because there is always something I should be doing.
Sandy – The problem I have is that there are too many mysteries I follow! 🙂 I really do enjoy hanging out at a coffee shop with a book. I’m surprised how focused I can get on my book!
I think I’m due for a coffee and book date! I used to do this before book club when I was still working. Instead of going home for an hour I would head to the coffee shop and enjoy a little time off. Of course I’m easily distracted and sometimes spent more time people watching. 😉
Hope you’re having a good week!!
I agree, it’s easier to dive into a book without distractions like the computer or housework. Book Group Night sounds like a fun time!
