I met with my book club tonight and we discussed The House Of Silk by Anthony Horowitz. I didn’t feel quite as prepared because I skimmed a lot of the end as I was rushing to find out what happened. I just never really got into the book which is odd because it has a lot of the elements that I would enjoy in a mystery but something wasn’t working for me.
We had a good discussion and some members liked it more than others but overall it seemed like it wasn’t one of our favorites of the year. Let’s see what next month’s selection brings.
Here are the books we’ll be reading in the next few months:
- Three Seconds by Roslund and Hellström
- The Inquisitor’s Key by Jefferson Bass
- Total Chaos by Jean-Claude Izzo
Good stuff. Have you read any of these? I’m especially intrigued by the Total Chaos books as that is a classic of European crime fiction. Ok, now to finish up another book I had in progress although my library books are tempting me.
I’ve not read any of these but I’m excited about all the great crime thrillers coming out of Europe (or all the ones that are now getting exposure over here). They generally have pretty cool settings.
I know what you will do when you retire 🙂
Sandy – Me too! I love all of those European settings. I get some of my armchair traveling done that way 🙂
Isabel – Haha… right? I owe you an email!
