We spent a great afternoon at Barnes & Noble yesterday and I was super excited because I found a new issue of Art Journaling magazine (not the one pictured in the link – I found the Summer 2013 edition) and they also had the BN Classics on sale. Buy two and get one free, yep, I needed some classics.
- Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen
- The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Kind of different choices for me but I’m excited about them.
I stayed up late Saturday night finishing Eleanor and Park and it was so good. I’ll try to post a review soon. It’s one of those books that you are rushing towards to the end because you hope it’ll end like you want it to but at the same time you don’t want to get to the last page either.
No bookbinding happened over the weekend. I just wasn’t really in the mood but I did go to yoga for a very wonderful relaxation class. While I waited for class to start I wandered around looking through some of the books and found Love Poems from God and scanned a few poems. Oh wow, some powerful stuff. Later in the evening I thought about the book again and searched the Austin Public library catalog and they have it! I put a hold on it and can’t wait to get it.
I love finding a book I must check out in an unexpected place.
Oh I have heard such wonderful things about Eleanor and Park! And the books you bought are fun. This morning I was standing, trancelike, in front of my bookshelves, and was saying to myself that I should not, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, buy one more damned book. No No No. Way too many, and I’ll probably never get all of these read.
Yay for classics sales! Though I must say since I got my kindle I don’t buy classics anymore since I can get them free online through Project Gutenberg. I do sometimes miss the excitement of picking a few books on the two-for sale though.
I love those Stampington magazines–I used to subscribe to the main one and have a massive pile of them which I cannot bear to part with! I’m always happy to load up on classics–though I don’t seem to read them as fast as I acquire them!
Yayayayay! I’m so glad you liked Eleanor and Park!
Sandy – You have to read it – it’s so good! 🙂 and, I have the same discussion with my books too – haha…
Stefanie – Oh that’s right you can get these for free for the Kindle! Is it bad to say I love how the editions look on the bookshelf? 🙂
Danielle – I used to as well but stopped a while back. I’m so into art journaling now though that I may have to start subscribing again. I don’t want to miss an issue! 🙂
Andi – Great recommendation my friend! 🙂
