My blog is a little older now, 6 years! These posts are always the hardest ones for me to write because although it is a celebration of how many years I’ve kept this going, it is also a celebration of my friends and readers who make this so much fun for me and how do you get that across?
I enjoy sharing with you my life with books and I love to read your comments and emails. I cannot tell you how many times I’ll share some blogging anecdote with my husband and it’ll just remind me how much I’ve come to rely on this community for everything; from book recommendations and general book lust, to support when going through life’s less than stellar moments and for laughs and hugs because they make the world better. So, thank you guys!
Now, as it’s become a tradition I’ve got three handmade journals to giveaway to celebrate. If you’ll leave me a comment with your favorite read of the year so far that would be wonderful. I just want to see if I’m missing out on some great reads.
I’m going to take a few days off from my blog to enjoy some extra time visiting bookstores and reading but I promise to come back with stories of books found. Wishing you a great weekend and I’ll see you in the blogosphere!
Smiles,
iliana
Happy bloggiversary! A wonderful six years for sure! My fave read of the year so far, probably The Good Earth which I just finished today.
Happy Blogiversary, Iliana! Here’s to many more years to come! 🙂
One of my fave reads this year is Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters!
Happy Blogiversary. Mine is this month as well…coming soon 2 years.congrats to you.
I don’t feel right being in the running for a journal since I won one last year, but I did want to congratulate you on your bloggiversary. Mine for huffenglish.com is in a few days. I can’t say about Much Madness. I didn’t keep track, and initially, it wasn’t a book blog at all, so…
My favorite read of the year so far is probably Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, but I thoroughly enjoyed The Help, too.
Happy Bloggiversary! Wow 6 years is awesome! I wish I could stick to a project for that long! One of my favorite reads this year so far was Moby Dick. I took a whole class on just that novel and I learned so much about it! i fuond it an awesome read.
What an achievement! Congrats!
The weight of heaven by Thrity Umrigar was a wonderful read.
Happy blogoversary. Its a milestone to blog for so long. Many more
to come..
Six years is an immense achievement! Yours was one of the first book blogs I found and it was an inspiration to me, iliana. And you know how much I cherish the notebook I was lucky enough to win last time! So you’d better keep me out of the draw, but I am so happy that you are a fixture in my blogging world!
Happy, happy 6th blogging anniversary, Iliana! That’s a huge milestone. I can only hope I’ll one day celebrate my 6th. As for my favourite read of the year so far, it’s Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayers. Yes, a mystery, which I wouldn’t have read to begin with if not for bloggers like you 😛
Happy blog anniversary! I wish you many more years of fun on the blogs, though I wonder if your book shelves could take it. LOL
So far this year, my favorite book is a toss up between The Lotus Eaters by Tatjana Soli and The Gin Closet by Leslie Jamison. They’re both pretty heavy but the writing is great.
Six years.OMG – what a marvellous achievement. Your journals are positively lush. My favourite read this year would still have to be Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman.
Enjoy your few days off.
Happy blogiverary Iliana. I hope you find some fantastic books while you are offline.
Happy Blogoversary! My favorites this year so far are The Wood Wife by Terry WIndling, The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Alborn and Olive Kitteridge by Elisabeth Strout. I’m sure there’s at least one in there for you! 🙂
Happy Blogiversary. I enjoy visiting your blog. I’m a journal lover, so I would love to win one. I just finished reading Sima’s Undergarments for Women by Ilana Stanger-Ross, and it’s one of the best I’ve read so far this year.
Congrats on your 6 year bloggiversary! That’s quite a landmark. I think I’m probably close to that amount of time too even though I’ve had different blogs and different hosts.
Anyway, my favorite read so far has been a recent one: “Backseat Saints” by Joshilyn Jackson. It’s a hard subject matter (domestic abuse) but Jackson has a way of making you love the characters even though they are acting terribly which makes the read not only bareable but most enjoyable.
Congratulations Iliana! I’ve been following your blog for most of those 6 years and I must say it has been a pleasure. It is nice to have a friend who enjoys visits to HPB as much as I do 🙂
It is hard to say what my favorite book has been this year, I’ve read some good ones! But I took special pleasure in The gates by John Connolly and Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie.
Six years is incredible! That is like 12 years in regular time, isn’t it? So my favorite read so far this year? That is hard. I’d have to say Let the Great World Spin, but there are alot of very close runner ups!
Congratulations! My two favorite reads this year are Girl Meets God and The Know-It-All. Keep up the great blogging!
Congrats! I think you were one of the very first book bloggers I discovered and have been reading you ever since! If it hadn’t been for you I would have not discovered Peresephone Books! I’m not sure I can pick a favorite book–maybe The Crimson Rooms by Katharine McMahon or Someone in the Distance by Dorothy Whipple (or maybe A Room with a View by EM Forster)….Have a nice few days off!
Wow, congratulations on 6 years of blogging. That is such a phenomenal accomplishment. Yours was one of the first blogs I discovered when I happened upon this book blogging community about 2 years ago and I was always look forward to your post and your kind comments on my blog. I’d love the opportunity to win a journal. My favorite read so far this year has been The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.
Happy Happy Day.
I don’t want a journal, but I will keep wishing you a great weekend.
Hi, Iliana.
Congrats on your bloggiversary…. we may have shared the same cyber-incubator [as it were….] my own blog is soon to be six years old, too!
My own [current] favorite read of this year of 2010 [and I am excited to think that something may yet usurp it…] is a novel by Sarah Waters. Not so much her latest one, which was also superb [The Little Stranger] — but her older novel, Affinity.
I LOVED IT!!!
Congratulations, Iliana!
Congratulations on the ‘versary! 6 years is incredible. So far, I’m really enjoying The Passage, but it will probably take me the rest of this year to finish it, so check back with me in 2011! lol. Hope you’re enjoying your bloggy break.
Happy Blogoversary! I’d have to say Spirit Bound By Richelle Mead. Being a YA and a Fantasy fan, I love the Vampire Academy series, and the latest is just amazing! Absolutely loved it! 🙂
6 years, that’s awesome! My favorite read so far this year has been Still Missing.

Happy Six years!!!
Yippee!!!! I am so excited for you!! Wow, 6 years is fantastic. I missed my blogaversary this year being sick. Maybe I’ll make a half year blogaversary post. LOL
My favorite book so far would have to be The Captive Queen by Alison Weir. This is historical fiction about Elizabeth of Acquitaine. I think you would like this a lot. The strength of this woman and her role in history never ceases to amaze me. Weir is one of my favorite authors. I actually met her at a book signing in CT once. She is so personable.
Wow. What an impressive achievement! Congratulations. Enjoy your weekend, and find lots of new reads to share with us.
Congrats Iliana, 6 years is awesome!!! I love your blog.
my fav read of the year so far has been The Recipe Club: A Tale of Food and Friendship
Six years is great! I have especially loved coming here to see your journals – I love all things paper so I would love to be in the draw.
On the reading front, it has been a year of non-fiction for me. Most recently I have enjoyed Food Matters by Mark Bittman and Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande. I am hoping to dive into some fiction with summer finally here.
Happy blogiversary! 6 years is a long time to be blogging. I’m sure time has passed by so fast. My favorite reads so far this year are The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.
Wow. Conrats on the anniversary.
Happy Blogiversary…you were the very first book blog I came across and it got me to thinking that I could do one, too, so thank you!
My favorite read so far this year has been The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Happy bloggiversary! Six years is quite a milestone! So far this year, my favorite reads are The Makioka Sisters, by Tanizaki, and Home Cooking, by Laurie Colwin. Also Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution has been fun to browse and cook from 🙂
I am so far behind on my blog hopping even for my favourite blogs, of which you are one on the list!
Belated happy blogiversary wishes to you!
Happy Bloggiversary Iliana! It’s been a pleasure following you all these years now. Geez, where has the time gone??
Happy belated blogiversary, as I’m behind on reading blogs and just seeing this now from the journal winner post. Congratulations on 6 years! Like others have said, yours was one of the very first book blogs I read and it remains one of my favorites.
Best read of the year … what a hard question. Financial Lives of the Poets, Then We Came to the End, and The Day the Falls Stood Still are all up there.
Happy Blogiversary! My blog was started 7 years ago technically but it’s only been an active blog for 3 years. So I’m never sure when to consider my blogiversary.
Fav. read? That’s always a hard question for me. Most people mean fiction but I read mostly nonfiction.
I guess I’ll recommend I am Nujood: Age 10 and Divorced by Nujood Ali with Delphine Minoui
Oh, dear. I’m late to another blogiversary party! Congrats on your 6 years. Yours was one of the first I visited when I joined all the fun back in 2006. My, how time flies!
I know I’m too late for the give-away, but I’ll still share some titles with you. I’ve read some great books this year:
Faithful Place by Tana French
Every Last One by Anna Quindlen
Lift by Kelly Corrigan
The Help by Kathryn Stockett (on audio this time around)
Mudbound by Hillary Jordan
Again, congrats on your wonderful blog. Here’s to many more years of great reading & friendship.
Happy belated anniversary, Iliana. I know I was reading your blog before I ever started mine (six in October). I’m so glad you’re still here.
It’s been a good year of reading for me. Some of my favs:
Can You Forgive Her? Anthony Trollope
Cassandra at the Wedding. Dorothy Baker
The Sweetest Dream. Doris Lessing
I’m late in adding my congrats! Six years is an accomplishment. Even though I don’t comment often, I love reading your posts and opinions. Keep up the great work.
Aloha from Rob
P.S. Favorite read this year: Where’s My Wand? by Eric Poole.
