I can barely believe this but on Wednesday my blog turns 5 years old! When I started my blog I had no major goals or plans for it. I just know I wanted to talk about my love for reading but I never imagined I’d still be writing about booklust five years later.
And, little did I know I’d become a part of a wonderful book blog community. Granted a community that has helped to make my to-be-read list a tome in itself. Heh.
So thank you to all my friends in blogland. I hope we’ll share many more years of book talk.
Now, I think 5 is quite a big number in blog years so this deserves a big celebration and you know what that means for me – handmade books. So I’m giving away five handmade journals. All you’ve got to do is tell me what’s one book you plan on reading this summer. I’ll do a drawing on Sunday.
I’m off to do a bit of celebrating with some good reads, a glass of milk and chocolate chip cookies. Yum.
Congratulations Iliana, 5 years is a long time. You are my first book blog read of the day and I always do check another time in the evening for good measure. Anyway just to let you know how much I enjoy your posts. This summer I am planning on reading “The Children’s Book” by AS Byatt. I love the cover. I got it through the Book Depository in the UK. But before that one I have The Likeness by Tara French, the Memorist by MJ Rose and “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery to finish.
I’ve wanted one of your handmade journals for a while now, but can’t swing it financially yet. I’d love to win one!
I’m planning to read Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell – among many other titles!
Happy 5th Bloggiversary! It’s a milestone really for the bookgirl! Toast to many more milestones and readings. I count myself very fortunate to have stumbled upon your blog when I was a rookie book blogger. 🙂
5 years is quite an accomplishment. I’d love to win a handmade journal!
I plan on reading Home by Marilynne Robinson very soon.
wow! 5 WHOLE years!
🙂
That’s so good !
Congratulations!
Hope you have many more blog anniversaries to celebrate with us 🙂
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! I wanted to read Just Listen by Sarah Dessen…. and I have started it too 🙂
5 years?!
Congratulations!
A book I plan on reading this summer….that would have to be the novel I’m reading now, MIDDLESEX by Jeffrey Eugenides. I read THE VIRGIN SUICIDES not too long ago and it left me wanting more from the author.
So far he hasn’t let me down. The only reason I put it down is to eat, sleep, and make more tea to drink as I read.
May you have many more years of sharing your experiences and books. And again, congratulations!
Congratulations on your five year anniversary! That is a big achievement, so you should be really proud. I really hope that I can make it to my fifth year, but that is a long way off for me!
If you’re willing to send your beautiful notebooks overseas then I’m looking forward to reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins! If not, then I’m happy just reading your blog – sorry for not commenting much, but I do read it!
Congratulations on five years!
I haven’t made a summer reading list. It’s going to be whatever is on my library shelf, which right now is packed full with things like The Little GIant of Aberdeen County, The Children’s Book, and so many others. I’m really looking forward to Lori Lansens new book that is out in August.
Happy Blogiversary Iliana! Congrats on five years!
Congratulations! One book I plan on reading this summer (if I ever get back to reading) is Angela Carter’s Shaking a Leg – it’s a collection of essays and critical pieces. Sounds very interesting and I’m needing some non-fic.
Five years! Holy cow! Congratulations!! I wonder how many of us out here now will be able to reach that milestone! Let’s see . . . What will I read this summer? I’ve got The Borgias and Their Enemies all qued up, so I’ll go with that one. 🙂
Lezlie
That’s so awesome!!! Happy Blogiversary Iliana; as I’ve said before, yours is the first book blog I ever saw, so I’m very happy you’re around! 😀
Congratulations on a great 5 years! Since I already have two of your journals, I won’t interfere with anyone’s chances to win one.
Wow, has it really been five years? I think I found you later your first year. How time flies? It has been such a pleasure to get to know you and read your reviews and watch you grow in your crafts. Congratulations!
I plan on reading a bunch of books this summer but the one I want to read the most is Middlemarch. I haven’t made much progress yet, but I’m going to keep going, even if I only get in a couple of pages a day. Maybe I’ll finish by next summer?
Congrats on 5 years…that is a long time. I feel lowly with my mere 2 years of blogging at my Savvy blog. I say here’s to many more years of blog entries from you!
As for what I’m reading this summer, quite a few WWII books, including Bloody Good. Don’t ask me why I picked a depressing selection of books for the summer. Just one of those things I guess.
Happy celebrating.
Happy bloggiversary! I love your blog, so here’s to five more years!
Meanwhile, I’m planning to read Twilight this summer. I want to see what all the hype is about. 🙂
Merry Bloggiversary! You are a good read! Keep it up girl!
Wow! In blogging years, that is like 40 years ! ;-), No seriously, you must be the longest running book blog. Many congrats to you. I’d love to be in your drawing. I’m going to read Oryx & Crake soon for bookclub.
Happy Bloggiversary and many more!
Happy Bloggiversary! Doesn’t it seem like the five years flew by? Do you find yourself thinking, wow, has it been that long? I hope they have all been good years and I hope there are many more to come! I planned to read Enchanted april this summer and did. I also planned on reading Rebecca, and I am. After that, it’s Wilkie Collins 🙂
Wow, Congratulations! Five years is quite a milestone. Of course, I have a big pile on my bedside table in anticipation of summer reading. One book I’ll be reading for sure is The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. I can’t wait for that one.
Congratulations! Five is a great number — a very impressive one. Thanks for doing the give-away! My one certain summer read is Infinite Jest. I’ve chosen something just a little challenging 🙂
Wow – 5 years – congrats! I hope that I am still doing this 2 years from now – can’t even imagine 5 years!
The Moon Looked Down by Dorothy Grlock is a book that I am going to be reading very soon! Here is to another 5 years!
WOW, that is so cool. It has been a great five years for this reader and fan of your blog and I look forward to many more!
I have The Book Thief high on my list of books to read this summer since I started it and just did not quite finish.
Congratulations again and keep up all the wonderful reading and writing.
Impressive anniversary – congratulations!!
Wow, congrats on five years of blogging! You’re right, that is a big number in blog years! (I haven’t made it to one year yet!) I’ve been eyeing your handmade books for a while now, so I’d love to win one! I plan to read Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer by Novella Carpenter this summer (among many). Thanks for this giveaway!
One books that I feel I MUST read this summer is Emma by Austen. I can’t wait!!
Happy 5th! I enjoy reading your blog. This summer I’m hoping to make a dent in my TBR shelf -ok, shelves. First up is People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks.
Five years is so incredible! And what’s lovely is that you sound as enthusiastic and committed as bloggers do in the early years. It’s always a joy to visit here. Up next for me is Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. I’ve been meaning to read it for the longest time!
Congrats on reaching such a big milestone!
The books that I am most looking forward to reading during your summer (our winter) are The Angel’s Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.
wahoo! congrats and enjoy the chocolate chip cookies.
oh ! I hit submit too fast! I intend on reading The Day the World Ended at Little Bighorn by Joseph Marshall III (for book club – selected today) and The Book Thief and… oh, lots more.
Happy 5th, Iliana. Your blog was one of the first book blogs that I ever saw back in those wild and wooly days of yore.
Wishing you many, many more.
I’ve just finished what I expect will be my favorite book of the year–A.S. Byatt’s The Children’s Book. I should be starting Anthony Trollope’s Bertrams shortly.
Oh my gosh! Happy Blogoversary! I know my blogging experience wouldn’t be the same without you so thank you! One book I plan on reading this summer is The Kindly Ones by Jonathan Little.
Sorry for not congratulating you sooner! Great 5 years old.
It’s been so hot here, my brain is soggy. There was finally a little wind for a little bit here. The temps dropped to 80F, so I have energy to comment and blog.
I don’t want to enter this contest this time; I want to give others bigger chance to win. I hope you find great winners.
I am hoping to read Cutting for Stone if my number comes up on the hold list. I also have The Accidental by Ali Smith that I will be starting this weekend and Olive Kitteridge which I just got from Amazon last week. I would love to win one of your lovely journals. Thanks for the chance!
Congrats and Happy Blogiversary, Iliana!!! 😀 Five years is an impressive number and I love reading your blog and not to mention you’re one of my best friends in blogland!
I really look forward to reading anything by Sarah Waters (I can’t decide one!), since I’ve heard nothing but raves about her books!
Congratulations on your 5th year of blogging. I’ve been enjoying your blog for over a year myself! I’m looking forward to reading Three Junes by Julia Glass.
Hi! I’ve only just started my blog this year so I’m quite new at this. Blogging is addicting in itself, especially book blogs! So many intelligent, funny, engaging opinions about stories out there! I love it so far. I love your handmade books! Did you stitch the pages together too?
One book I plan on reading this summer is something I just came across looking at someone else’s blog: Beastly by Alex Flinn. Apparently they’re also making a movie out of it. Anyway, I love fairy tale re-tellings, and this one is set in modern times.
Hi…after a long while i found the chance to check your blog and i m welcomed by such a good news…5 years sound just awesome..hope you will keep blogging for many years as well…
Happy Bloggiversary:)
Congrats on 5 years!! Now, that’s dedication.
I’d loved to win one of your beautiful books. I plan on reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion for the Everything Austen challenge.
Wow! Has it really been five years? Yours was the first book blog I ever read and it opened a whole new world to me. Thanks so much!
I’ll be reading The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet this summer.
Congratulations and Happy Blogaversary. My goal this summer is to finish The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. I’ve been feeling daunted by the size of the book. This past weekend we listed to the first 7 audio discs, so now I don’t have quiet as many pages to read.
Congratulations! Five years is quite a long time for a blog in a day and age when so many blogs are abandoned. I plan to read a lot of books this summer. I think my next one might be The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. Such a pretty cover, which attracted me despite the old adage.
Happy 5th Bloggiversary, Iliana. It’s amazing how fast time marches on.
It’s quite an achievement to reach 5 years. There aren’t many book blogs that survive that long. I hope there are many more years of Bookgirl’s Nightstand 🙂
Wow! How could the time have gone so quickly? Keep up the good work, my dear Iliana, and here’s to 5 more years! This summer I plan to read Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.
Wow five years (snazzy banner btw)! I only hope my blog is going and has reached such a high standard of quality and interest as your has (well every birthday girl/blog deserves to hear a little bit about the good things she does).
This summer I plan to read many books but as I’m off on my beach holiday the weekend after next I expect to be taking lots of quick reads. Especially looking forward to ‘The Preseidents’s Daughter’ by Ellen Emerson White.
Congratulations again!
Yippee!!! Woo Hoo Congratulations to You for a five year anniversary.
What an amazing accomplishment.
I wish you all the best. I love your blog and your hand made books. 🙂
Congratulations on hitting the five-year mark! One book that I’m looking forward to reading this summer is Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork.
Wow! Five years/ That’s impressive! Congrats!
I plan on reading Little Face by Sophie Hannah this summer.
