Hello Everyone! I’m back from vacation. Actually I’ve been back for a few days but it always takes me some time to get back into the swing of things.
My last few days in Berlin were wonderful even though a bit exhausting. I was running around catching trains, meeting up with friends and just having a good time.

What was surprising to me was that I had a list of bookstores that I wanted to check out and didn’t get to go but to one of them. I couldn’t help it though, I found some fantastic museums to get lost in and spent countless hours looking at art. One of our friends who lives in Berlin said I probably visited more museums than she has. Ha,ha.
I did make the requisite stroll down the Ku’damm and stopped in at Hugendubel to check out their books and treated myself to A Most Dangerous Woman by L.M. Jackson. A new series featuring a woman sleuth in Victorian London. You know I could not pass this one up.
Anyway, stay tuned because I have to tell you about my visit to one museum and how it relates to one book I’ve just finished.
Can’t wait to catch up on what all of you have been reading!

Welcome home! It sounds like you had a marvelous time, Iliana. Your mentioning of your friend who lives in Berlin not visiting as many of the museums that you got to see rang true for me in that it’s often when out of town company come that I will sometimes visit touristy spots I had not yet explored within my own neck of the woods.
I love Berlin! I went there to see theater and research some family history a few years ago and had such a great time. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip.
Welcome back! You went to the Reichstag which has one of my favorite views of Berlin! Sounds like you had a wonderful time and I look forward to hearing more stories of your travels….
Literary Feline – It was so great. And, isn’t it the truth about being out of touch with our own cities until we have guests in town… then we really discover the place 🙂
Ted – Oh I love Berlin too – it’s definitely one of my favorite German cities. I’ve been there four or five times now and I’m so amazed at how much there is still to be discovered.
Christine – Thanks girl. I remember your pics of the Reichstag – those were stunning! I promise a story about a visit one of the museums.
Welcome home! Great pictures and I’m glad you’re back safely.
Welcome back! Have missed you tons and can’t wait to hear more about your museum-going and reading!
Welcome home! It sounds like you had a fabulous time. As much as I love books (and bookstores), I know I’d do the same as you and visit every museum possible. Looking forward to hearing more about them.
Welcome home. Sounds like you had a fun trip. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
Nice to hear from you again!
Great pics.
Welcome back! I am curious to read how your museum visit fits in with a recent book you read. Oh, and I’m wondering if you finished the Ten-Year Nap? I saw that in the library the other day and wondered about it.
Welcome back! It sounds like you had a lovely time. Re-entry to normal life is always tough after a big trip like that 🙂
Welcome back, Iliana! 🙂
Sounds like you had a great time! I’m so envious! ;P Can’t wait to hear more about your trip.
It’s so nice to hear from you, Ili. I’m so glad you had a nice time on your vacation. Your pictures are great, can’t wait to see more of them. I need to motivate myself to get back to reading, it has been a hectic month.
Sounds like a wonderful vacation. Great pictures!
Happy Reading-
Amanda
Welcome back. I’m looking forward to hearing all about your visits. As always, I continue to travel vicariously through all of you who are nice enough to share with the rest of us. 🙂
Sorry to hear your vacation has come to an end, but I am glad you’ll be back to posting again. It sounds like you had a great time, and I hope you share pics! And thanks for the heads up on the Lee Jackson book-I’ll have to try and get my hands on a copy–sounds great!
Welcome back! The picture of Reichstag is so pretty and postcard perfect!
I usually have a list of bookstores that I plan to visit but usually under the time constraint I end up visiting less than half of them. Now that I have been to Bangkok and London a few times I can afford to sit at a coffee shop and read from the loots that I get from the long list of bookstores that I frequent there. But when I arrive in a new place, the tightness of schedule and that I don’t want to miss out the sights and attractions will force me to compromise with book browsing.
aka Nik – Thanks girl!
Andi – I did lots of reading on vacation but somehow this week I’ve barely been able to read. Must be the heat frying my brain! ha,ha..
Les in NE – I went overboard on the museum visits but I just couldn’t help it – there were so many to see!
tanabata – It was a lot of fun. It’s so hard to come back from that too because well who doesn’t want to be on vacation all the time 🙂
Isabel – Thanks girl! Hope you are surviving the heat!
Lesley – I still haven’t finished The Ten-Year Nap… Unfortunately I packed it in my suitcase so I couldn’t read it on the flight back and then I got sidetracked by the book that I picked up after my museum visit. I will get back to it though because so far what I’ve read I’ve liked.
Ravenous Reader – It is hard to get back to normal life isn’t it? I’ve had some pretty bad jet lag this time too to top it off but oh well.
Melody – Thank you. It’s hard to write posts of the trip because I get a bit bummed out that I’m still not over there 🙂
Shadan – So good seeing you recently girl. And, I may try to go to the August book group – I think the book for that month should be a good one. Don’t worry girl, you’ve got vacation coming up so I’m sure you’ll get some reading done then!
Amanda – Thank you – it was fabulous! 🙂
Lisa – I love hearing travel tales and seeing everyone’s pics too. It’s just so fun and perfect for daydreaming!
Danielle – I thought about you when I found that book! I will keep you posted on it.
Matt – Aw, thanks! Well, the Reichstag is such a pretty building that it lends itself to some nice pics 🙂 I’m the same way, I always have a list of bookstores. I had five bookstores I wanted to visit in Berlin and I didn’t get to go but to one of them and that was one I’d been to before. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to go back 😉
Welcome back! Can’t wait to hear more about your trip! And see more photos too 🙂
