I’m slowly making progress on my current reads I mentioned last week. I did finish the Best American Poetry 2012 collection which I found sad a lot of times but I was very glad to read this because I found gems from Billy Collins, Sherman Alexie and Mark Strand to name a few. I’m really in the mood to read more poetry and am excited to have another poetry book waiting for me at the library.
Speaking of the library, I actually have an overdue book still out and of course I’ve received a note about some books on hold waiting for me. I think I currently have about 11 holds. I’m sure I’ll go on a library ban in a while to read more from my stacks but for now I’m having fun finding library books.
Somehow when we were at Barnes & Noble last weekend I missed (or maybe it wasn’t out just yet) the latest Mystery Scene Magazine – jumbo Summer edition. Oh my! I really need to get that so I already know what I’ll be looking for this coming weekend.
Oh and happy July! In case you are wondering what to read next, here are the 10 Must-Reads for this month. I’ve got an advance copy of Susan Choi’s, My Education but there are a couple of others on the list that look very interesting. Here’s to a great reading month.
I’ve come across a couple of really good poem by Mark Strand lately. One of these days I will actually read an entire book of his instead of meeting with random poems. Happy July!
I let my Mystery Scene subscription lapse and haven’t been able to get to a bookstore to pick up the summer copy. Hopefully sometime in the next week!
I saw a review of Susan Choi’s book recently and thought it sounded really good. I look forward to reading your thoughts on it, Iliana.
Have a great month of July!
Unsurprisingly (lately I seem to be out of the loop) I was not familiar with almost every title in that ten must reads list! I am trying to focus, too, on a few books that I really do need to finish this month, but library books continue to be a distraction. I think I have eight waiting for me on the library’s holds shelf! Must try and check out that Mystery Scene magazine, too.
Wow, you make library bans on yourself? I should probably start since I renew books as much as possible and still end up with overdue ones.
Stefanie – For some reason I think I favor collections of various poets. I guess for variety? But I probably should pick up just one book from a poet and read & discover!
Literary Feline – I actually have too but am thinking of renewing! Hope you are having a wonderful summer so far!
Danielle – I feel like I’m always out of the loop – ha! I can’t wait to hear what you find at the library.
Serena – Yes, I know. I sort of hate to do that but if I don’t then I neglect my reading stacks! Only for a while though 🙂
