So anyone getting tired of vampire stories yet? There seem to be so many new ones out, but I don’t mind a good vampire story at all. Actually, I just want more. One that’s been on my shelves is The Year of Disappearances by Susan Hubbard which is the sequel to her first book. Has anyone read that one yet?
Last year I read The Society of S and really liked it. You can read my review here in case you missed it. If that intrigues you and you like a good vampire story let me know. Better yet, tell me which is your favorite vampire story. I have my own copy of the book but I got an extra one sent to me from the publisher so a lucky reader gets it! I’ll do a drawing at the end of the week.
Good luck!
And, I know I meant to participate a bit more in the Sunday Salon but got sidetracked by The Likeness by Tana French. So far it’s proving to be a great sequel to In the Woods. Actually, a lot of my other reads were put aside because of this book. I’ll tell you more about those other reads soon.
The only and the last vampire story i read was “Der Kleine Vampir” in German..hehe
After that one i did not read any! I guess i dnt like vampire stories…but may be i should try one some time…lets see:)
I love vampire stories too! Have you read Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson? It’s a silly take on the vampire world and really entertaining. It’s the first in a series as well so if you like it there are loads more to come.
Most of my vampire fix comes from the tv though – I’m a huge, huge Buffy fan and have watched the series several times. It’s the most clever tv i’ve seen.
I’ve The Society of S in my pile, Iliana! And I’m glad you’re enjoying reading The Likeness… I can’t wait to hear your thoughts! 🙂
Best reads for Halloween times.
My fav vampire was Barnabas Collins of the soap opera Dark Shadows.
More titles added to my list!
I love a good vampire story. There are a ton coming out, but many of the vampires are very emo! I’m more interested in the old style of vamp mixing with the new style of vamp. Though I’ll take any that come my way! LOL
I added The Society of S to my wishlist thanks to your earlier review of it! So I’d love a chance to win it.
I haven’t really read many vampire stories- Dracula, Twilight and then the 4 by Colleen Gleason. Edward is so hot but I haven’t read beyond the first book yet so I suppose I’d say my favourite is the Gardella Vampire Chronicles. They are really fun! And I really should read some more vampire novels.
I never tire of vampires. My favorite is Anne Rices ‘Interview With the Vampire’. I love Luis’ character in that one, he’s the torn, beautiful, tortured vamp. I do like Edward from Twilight as well.
I enjoy a good vampire story now and then. 🙂 My favorite vampire series is Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Series. It’s not really a scary or serious set of books, but they are fun to read. 🙂
I have I Am Legend on the list for the RIP Challenge. I’m looking forward to it (it a weird way).
iselldreams – “The Little Vampire”? Is that a YA book? 🙂 I love vampire stories but I want to see writers offer up something creative when it comes to telling such a well-known story you know.
Joanna – I read one of those Davidson books but never continued on with the series. She’s got several now right? And, yes, Buffy was great!
Melody – When I finish the book I’ll have to tell you the one thing that bothered me which I don’t want to mention in the blog for fear of spoilers. I’ll send you a note. I wanna know if it was just me 🙂
Isabel – A blast from the past! I have only seen a few of those shows. My mom loved it 🙂
jenclair – Glad to know I’m helping the addiction 🙂
Serena – Oh that’s so true! And, yes, I prefer a bit more of the old style too. I also prefer a more serious tone. I’ve read a few “cutesy” ones and they were fun but not my favorites.
tanabata – Yay, I’m Team Edward too 🙂 I really didn’t like the other Twilight books though. I’m a bit tempted by the fourth one but I don’t know. I’m afraid of being disappointed again.
bookworm – Weren’t those the best! I have to admit that I loved Lestat. He was just terrible. I thought the first three in the vampire chronicles were really the best.
Literary Feline – Sookie! I really enjoyed those but somehow fell off the series after the third one. I should get back to it – I liked how they were a bit cozy but not silly you know.
Chris – I’ve heard so many good things about it – I hope you enjoy it! I’ll be looking forward to your review.
Guillermo Del Toro is adding to the fray with The Strain. His new vampire series is pub-ing in ’09.
Mike B. – Really? I had no idea. I’d definitely be up for checking that one out. He’s so creative!
I like vampire stories. Although, I’m not sure about the “classics.” I’m very into the Twilight series and I read a triology by Nora Roberts about vampires that I really enjoyed.
Nicole – Nora Roberts has books about vampires? I need to look into that! I’ve read some of her books. A bit of fluff but entertaining and sometimes that’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll check those out!
I have no clue why I love reading about vampires. My favorite vampire book ever is The Vampire Lestat. I devoured the Twilight Series (Team Jacob, here) and now am reading Guilty Pleasures (Book 1 of the Anita Blake series) by Laurell K. Hamilton. I’m finding that to be a bit too dark for me so I may try the Charlaine Harris books.
me im a diff preson i like alot of stuff and crazy stufff
I am currently in the middle of the Twilight series, so vampires are fresh on my mind right now. I would love to win this!
