Aside from a biscotti and a hazelnut latte, I really didn’t plan to buy anything at the bookstore but then I saw the latest edition of Poets & Writers magazine and I couldn’t resist.
You know how much I love the poetry of Billy Collins so this issue was a must-have. If you haven’t read any of his poetry, check out this poem.
So, I purchased my magazine, did a bit of book browsing and then it was time to settle down with The Toss of a Lemon. I feel like I’m finally making a bit of headway with this book. It’s big and I’ve got a couple of other books going on so that’s why it’s also taking me a while to finish it.
Before I left the bookstore I picked up the Fall edition of Discover Great New Writers newsletter. I can’t wait to dip into that. Oh my wish list is going to explode.
Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend. I plan to do some reading, bookbinding and maybe I’ll even get my act together and join in the Sunday Salon. For now, it’s time for me to go spend some time with my new magazine.
I like Billy Collins’s poetry too — I can see why you were drawn to the magazine!
I was going to look for Billy Collins at HPB yesterday and completely forgot! doh! Can I use that as an excuse to back? ๐
I am still working my way through The Toss of a Lemon. I am liking it, but I decided to take a break and read something else, which has grabbed my attention and held on. I need to get back to the other book soon though.
Oh! Thank you for telling me. I need to go pick one up for myself. I LOVE Billy Collins.
Oh goodness…not more books for my TBR pile. No! No!! I simply can’t!! The temptation is too great… help! Ack…. gaaaaahhhh!!
PS…but there ARE some really interesting new authors in the B&N list… oh help!
Dorothy W. – It’s a great issue, aside from Billy Collins there are some other articles I’m enjoying!
Stefanie – See, perfect excuse to go back! So did you? I need to stop by your blog to see if you report on that ๐
Literary Feline – I like it too but it’s not really what I thought it would be. So for that reason it’s probably dragging a bit for me too. Can’t wait to read what other books you’ve found that are keeping you away from it ๐
Jessica – Isn’t he great? Hope you get the magazine!
Kisane – I know right? So many books that sound good. I’ve already marked off at least 4 I want. And, I just got BookPages the other day too. It’s a madness! haha
“Aside from a biscotti and a hazelnut latte, I really didnรขโฌโขt plan to buy anything at the bookstore ” too funny; I wouldn’t be able to resist either!
Our local bookstore has a great periodical section. I have to confess that I’ve never picked up “Poets and Writers”, but now I’m Billy-Collins-curious. My daughter asked if we could go downtown today, now I have a mission.
Dawn – I know, what was I thinking going to the bookstore for just reading right ๐ Hope you find the issue and maybe a few other goodies on your bookstore trip!
I love Billy Collins poetry as well – I’ll be looking for that magazine!
I bought a few books at a bookstore over the weekend too, Iliana! Couldn’t help it since I had some coupons in hand, haha. Hope you’ve a great weekend! ๐
