Today was one of those days I could have just stayed in bed. I had a headache almost all morning and I am exhausted from a very long week at work. To top it off I have to go to the office on Saturday again. Hopefully it won’t be for too long though.
I almost didn’t go to my yoga class today but as usual, once I walked through the doors of the studio, rolled out my mat and got on the floor I realized just how much I needed this. I went to a restorative class and had my blankets, bolster and eye pillow ready for a wonderfully relaxing class. My headache was gone after class!
On my way back home I stopped off at the library to get some videos for my mom and as it’d been a while since I got some new library books I enjoyed choosing a few from the new books shelf. Here are the books I found:
- Devil-Devil by Graeme Kent. This is a Sister Conchita and Sergeant Kella mystery which is set in the Solomon Islands. Set in the 1960s in one of the most dangerous and beautiful areas of the South Pacific, this is a new mystery series. I’ve never read a book set in the Solomon Island so this is kind of exciting.
- Deceptions by Rebecca Frayn. I almost passed this one up but when I read the blurb that it is a compulsive thriller with echoes of Ruth Rendell I had to get it.
- The Darkest Sin by Caroline Richards. This is probably more romance than mystery but it’s set in Victorian London. I couldn’t resist.
- The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. I remember reading a review of this book a while back and it was on my radar. It’s a best-selling Japanese thriller. the premise sort of reminded me of Natsuo Kirino’s Out, which was such a good read. I hope this one is just as good.
Alright friends, I’m so tired and I’m going to bed. I hope to catch up on some blog visiting soon. I feel like I keep misisng out on what’s going on. I’m just hoping my work gets a bit under control in the next few months. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hope that you get a little time to relax this weekend.
When you pick up multiple titles from the library, how do you end up deciding which one to read first? In the sense, do you read the books together, surfing from one to another in hourly shifts, or do you complete one book and ONLY THEN move on to the other?
Enjoy your books!
Hope you get some rest and relaxing in this weekend!
Hope the weekend picks up and that you enjoy your book choices!
Have fun with your library books! I’m kind of annoyed by the lack of time I’ve had to visit other blogs, too. I have a choice — write, visit or read. Visiting always seems to be the first to go.
I hope you got some rest this weekend! It’s great that your yoga practice is so reliable a way to get some renewal and to feel better!
I hope this week will be better for you, Iliana! Happy reading! 🙂
I actually took almost all my library books back this morning before work! Just looking at the huge pile of them was starting to stress me out. I want to read them all but know I can’t possibly fit them in. It was nice clearing away some things in my computer room, too. Now I just have the few books I’m reading and a few more just in case! Hope you’re feeling better–between work and the heat I’m exhausted, too! (And it is only Monday!!)
I love my library – enjoy your reads and hopefully some good down time 😉
I hope you had a nice weekend when all was said and done and that your work will get easier over time. I know how it is to be so busy at the office that there are not enough hours to enjoy anything outside of work.
All your new books begin with the letter D! Is that how they were shelved? A funny coincidence …
