Erin over at The Paperback Stash tagged me for the 5 Things meme.
5 Things I was doing 10 years ago:
1. I was writing a lot of letters then as my husband and I were just pen pals
2. I was going salsa dancing a lot
3. I made my first trip to Europe and spent a couple of weeks in Spain. I got to see Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada. It was a whirlwind so I need to go back one of these days.
4. Scrapbooking was one of my favorite hobbies
5. I started keeping my first reading journal. It’s fun to see which books I was so excited about then: The House on Mango Street, Corelli’s Mandolin, The Remains of the Day, Confederacy of Dunces, Palace Walk, and many others.
5 Things on my To-Do List today (this will be Monday’s to-do list):
1. Work on Christmas cards
2. Look for a dress for a party next weekend
3. Go grocery shopping
4. Go to the gym
5. Answer emails
5 Things I would do if I were a millionaire:
1. Give money to some good causes
2. Build our dream home which would have a library and an art studio
3. Travel a lot
4. Spend a year taking classes at the Folk School
5. Shower family and friends with some nice gifts
5 Things I’ll never wear again (or have never worn):
1. Any kind of bridesmaid dress. I’ve been a bridesmaid six times! I think that’s enough.
2. Stirrup pants
3. Leg warmers
4. Cowboy boots (never worn)
5. Fur (never worn)
5 Favorite Toys:
1. iPod
2. MacBook Pro
3. Canon Digital Rebel
4. Stabilo Pens
5. Bonefolder
Now I’m going to be a rule-breaker and not tag anyone but if you haven’t done this meme yet consider yourself tagged! Thank you Erin for giving me something to post about today – heh.
Six times as a bridesmaid? Yes I think that’s enough. 🙂
I forgot about stirrup pants- those were pretty awful. I just posted my answers to this today.
I hope you were able to to get your Christmas cards finished today, Iliana. No cowboy boots? I might not mind those as long as I don’t have to wear the spurs. 😉
Greetings from Malaysia!
Okay I enjoy so much reading your answer. This is why I like to participate meme. It cracks me up and piques my curiosity.
Leg-warmers remind me of irene cara in The Flashdance. It still perplexes me that leg-warmers should ever come into fashion. Aren’t they slippery and make you trip? LOL
You tie my record as being a best man. 🙂
That you and your husbands were pen pals is so cute and romantic. I wish I can meet the special someone as a pen pal. But nowadays people don’t even write letters or read much.
I’ll snag this meme when I get my mind together.
I was tagged with this meme too, hehe. Enjoyed reading your answers! 🙂 I have never worn a cowboy boots either…
i notice “go to the gym” is a constant in your posts 🙂
i can’t believe you’ve been a bridesmaid 6 times! and stirrups and leg warmers, wow, blast from the 80s. i can’t believe that they are making a come-back!
and because i just love your blog, i gave you an award:

I agree about the stirrup pants. Those bad boys need to be buried and never spoken of again.
I picked leg warmers too. Yes, they did make me trip. I was forever pulling them up. They’d get muddy too. Ugh! I can’t believe how much I remember about them.
I’m working on those Christmas cards too.
Oh, six times is plenty! Yikes. You’ve certainly done your duty as a friend!
Tanabata – I think so too! I can’t wait to read your answers.
Literary Feline – Cowboy boots are nice but I have a feeling I’d look ridiculous in them 🙂
Matt – Hey Mr. World Traveler 🙂 I know how did those leg warmers come into fashion? Really the 80s were not a good decade for fashion. Since I posted this I’ve been having flashbacks to some other horrors I wore in high school – ha,ha….
Melody – Can’t wait to read your answers!
Aloi – Probably because I still have to remind myself to go or I’ll come up with a hundred excuses as to why not to! ha,ha… Thank you so much for the award – you are sweet 🙂
aka Nik – Ha,ha.. Weren’t they awful? I only had a pair but that was enough.
Chrisbookarama – How are you coming along with those cards? I have mine just am blog reading this morning and putting off my whole list of to-do things 🙂
Dorothy W. – I think so too. I still have a couple of single friends. Hope they get married but hopefully I won’t have to be a bridesmaid again! I may have to recycle one of those dresses. Yes, I still have some.
Leg warmers are back! Run!
I liked reading about the school. I hope that you can go early 2008.
Oh man–stirrup pants. I forgot about those. I don’t think I ever did wear them or leg warmers, but I remember when they were popular. I think I was reading some of the same books as you were ten years ago. Great answers.
I’m with ya, I will never wear stirrup pants or leg warmers again either!
OK, I have a (dumb) questions–what is bonefolder?
Love this idea! Love that you and your husband were pen pals. My husband and I did long distance for about 8 months and he was so great about writing letters. I have lots of love letters from him. They are a great keepsake.
Isabel – I know, crazy isn’t it. I’d love to go to the Folk School for a year but I guess I need to start looking for a job next year. Maybe when I win the lotto 🙂
Danielle – I had one pair but man did I wear those a lot 🙂
Stefanie – Those just weren’t good looks on anyone right?
Kristen – Oh not a dumb question at all… I forget sometimes I go into “bookbinder speak”. A bonefolder is a tool to make creases and folds. Used for any paper crafts and of course bookbinding! Isn’t long distance awful – we did long distance for 2 years. But it was worth it 🙂
No problem, I enjoyed reading your answers =)
The letter writing sounds so romantic. My wife, then girlfriend and fiance, wrote to each other alot during the first summer we were apart when we were dating. I am so glad that we don’t have to be apart to need to write, but I do sometimes get sad that the art of letter writing is passing away in many ways due to technology.
Erin – Thanks! 🙂
Carl V. – I treasure those letters my husband and I exchanged. It’s funny because when we were finally married and together I did miss those a lot! Of course happy that we didn’t have to do long distance anymore!
