Tuesday Intro

I told myself no new books until I clear off one of my current reads but I really want to try and get one book in for the Japanese Literature reading challenge. So in conjunction with First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea, here’s a look at my new read:

“Once you finish your milk, please put the carton back int he box. Make sure you return it to the peace with your number on it and then get back to your desk. It looks like everyone is just about done. Since today is the last day of the school year, we will also be marking the end of “Milk Time.” Thanks to all of you for participating.”

What do you think? Does it sound like a cozy mystery, some strange dystopian fiction, what?

Well this is the intro to Confessions by Kanae Minato. According to the back cover: Narrated in alternating voices, with twists you’ll never see coming, Confessions explores the limits of punishment, despair and tragic love, culminating in a harrowing confrontation between teacher and student.

Let me know what you think and would love to hear about any new book you’ve started.
