The Return

Hello Friends! I’m back from vacation. We had such a wonderful time traveling through Belgium and The Netherlands that I wish vacation didn’t have to end but we got back last Wednesday and I was back at work on Thursday. I was also hosting some family so needless to say, this weekend has been all about unpacking, grocery shopping and you know, just trying to get back into the swing of things.

This was our second visit to Belgium but this time we spent a week mostly in Brussels but with a couple of days in Antwerp. Some of the highlights include: being there for the grand depart for the Tour de France, walking the comic strip trail in Brussels, and going to a Mont Blanc store in Antwerp. No I did not buy a Mont Blanc fountain pen but I did ooh and aah over a lot of them.

Next we moved on to The Netherlands which we’ve also visited in two other occasions. We spent most of our time in Rotterdam and despite being there for a full five days we still could have seen so much more. Then we also went to Haarlem for a few days and one day in Amsterdam. Some of the highlights include: Walking along the Erasmus bridge, a harbor tour in Rotterdam and a visit to Zandvoort am Zee to spend the morning at the beach.

The weather was slightly warmer than I would have liked in Belgium but it was nice to have sunny skies. In The Netherlands we did have more overcast skies but overall no issues. We ate some amazing food along the way. I think we had cake and coffee stops almost every day. We walked for hours and took tons of pictures and really enjoyed our time away.

Of course there were also a lot of bookstores visited but I’ll leave the book talk for the next blog post. I hope you don’t mind if I share more vacation pics along the way. Oh and if you don’t follow me on Instagram, I did try to post a daily picture so you can see some more there.

Anyway, what have you all been up to? Have you been reading some wonderful books this summer? Did you travel or have a staycation? I can’t wait to catch up with you. In the meantime have a great start to the week and more bookish talk soon.
