It’s a Mystery

“The first rain on the warm dry earth. Nothing like it. Then after the smell of the earth came the smell of the plants. It was as if each plant gave something of itself to say thank you for the rain. All the smells mixed together to make a delicious air soup for us to breathe in.”

From Recipes for Love and Murder by Sally Andrew.

Last Friday we finally got rain here in Austin and it was wonderful. To make it even more special I was reading this mystery and just as I was hearing the rain hit the window I came to this quote and I had to write it down in my reading journal.

Tonight was my mystery book group discussion and most of the members seemed to enjoy this mystery. Not necessarily our favorite read but I think what we enjoyed most was the South African setting. Have any of you read this or other books in the series?

Next up we have The Mountain View Murder by Patrick Kelly (and the author will be attending), Whose Body? by Dorothy L. Sayers and Two Girls Down by Louisa Luna.

I’ve read both the Sayers and Luna book but it’s been a while so I will probably have to do a refresher on both.

Now off to do a bit of reading before another busy work day tomorrow. Hope you are having a great week!
