Happy weekend everyone! Two more months before the end of the year can you believe it? I’m trying not to look at my list of books read because it is a surprisingly low number so far. I know it’s not the number of books we read but it does make me wonder why? Although it’s probably safe to say that it’s just my other interests (mainly bookbinding) competing with reading time.
Anyway, let’s look on the bright side and there are two months of reading time ahead and some extra days off from work which should mean more pages read. In the next couple of months I want to start and finish the Japanese Literature Challenge. Thanks to Danielle, I found out about the German Literature month that starts now. I should totally join don’t you think? My husband may be upset if I don’t! Ha. Let me think it over this weekend and I’ll let you know.
For now, I’m going to focus on finishing my two current reads which are Mr. Churchill’s Secretary and The One-Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window, which I feel like I’ve been reading for 100 years.
What about you, do you have any reading plans for the end of the year? Have a wonderful weekend everyone. We just got back from the bookstore and now it’s time to relax!
We would be delighted to have you join. 🙂
My reading plans mainly centre around my bookclub reads but I was hoping to finally dig into my Steve Jobs biography which was a Christmas gift last year! Shameful of me.
I know what you mean, my number tends to be low. I never reach the 100 mark, which is what I aim for every year. I think its quality over quantity though. And My crochet beckons me too…lol.
I just received The Lady and Her Monsters by Roseanne Motillo for review and I just want to drop everything else and read it. It looks so good. It’s about the real life experiments behind Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The way people were obsessed with re-animation during that time period and has info on Shelly and her husband as well. I think it calls for an all-night reading fest.
Happy reading! and enjoy your weekend!
Since you are writing, I am assuming that your home didn’t flood earlier in the week.
It’s scary reading about the flash flooding.
I read like a fiend for several months, but when my time in the studio began to increase (cycles, oh, cycles) again, the reading time began to diminish. Also, I’ve started any number of books lately that simply didn’t appeal or that seemed boring…. Is that because of my renewed creative interest in my studio, or just not so good books?
Since my NetGalley ARCs have not been as good lately, I’ve ordered Robin Hobb’s new book The Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince. I’d rather not pay for books, but I couldn’t resist a new one by Hobb!
Caroline – Thank you! I’m looking forward to it 🙂
Heather – I always feel guilty about not getting to gift books soon. Hope you enjoy your biography!
Bookworm – I can imagine that you’d also want to spend time crocheting cute stuff, especially this time of the year right? That Rosanne Montillo book sounds great. I hope you’ll enjoy it and I’ll be watching out for your review!
Isabel – We were very lucky but it was pretty bad. I feel so sorry for the families who lost loved ones and those whose homes were ruined. I never new it could get that bad here! Hope all is going well for you girl!
Jenclair – Totally understand those cycles! My bookbinding has totally taken a backseat to reading although somehow I’m still not reading as much as I would like. Hope you’ll find some good books to get you back into your reading! I hate it when you go through a spell of some not so great reads!
It’s hard to believe the end of the year is just about here already! It’s going to be a whirlwind two months for me. I imagine I won’t have time for much of anything. I don’t even want to think about what I didn’t read that I hoped to read this year. LOL With the upcoming holidays, I know I’ll be reading less. :-S
Here’s to a great November!
Literary Feline – I totally understand. My work gets very busy at the end of the year with all kinds of projects we have to finish up and of course the Christmas madness but I’m looking forward to the days off and hopefully extra reading time.
Am happy to oblige! 🙂 I read an interview with the author of Mr Churchill’s Secretary and want to read it as well. And I hate to say I have a few of those books I feel like I have been reading for an eternity, too!
One of my reading plans for the rest of the year is to read the stack of ARCs I have. It would be nice to see that space cleared off my bookshelf. 🙂
I would kind of like to get up to 100 books this year, although I realize that goals like that are arbitrary and encourage reading too quickly. But still, I want to do it! We’ll see how it goes.
