Book Haul

This month I added some new books to my shelves. I received several advance review copies and also did a bit of book shopping via ThriftBooks.

Thanks to Gallic Books, I received An Astronomer in Love by Antoine Laurain and The Tumbling Girl by Bridget Walsh. I loved The Reader’s Room by Antoine Laurain so I’m really exited about this new book.

From Soho Crime I received A Disappearance in Fiji by Nilima Rao. This debut mystery features young Indian police sergeant investigating a missing persons case in colonial Fiji. I can’t remember reading a book set in Fiji.

Via ThriftBooks I bought Joyland by Stephen King. A small town, an amusement park and a crime. Sounds like it will be creepy. Then I’ve been hearing so much about Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher from several of you and I really want to read it. Granted, it’s almost spring so may have to postpone this one but who knows, it’s been so warm lately that I wouldn’t mind being winter extending a bit longer even if it is via the pages of a book.

Finally, I found two poetry collections I couldn’t pass up. These are by poets who are new to me and so I’m thrilled to discover their writing. First up is Goldenrod by Maggie Smith. This has been a bestseller and I’ve found it on some best of lists so I have high expectations. Rome by Dorothea Lasky is one I saw at an indie bookstore last year and didn’t get it but kept thinking about so I’m glad to add it to my shelf.

Let me know if you’ve read any of these or if you added some new books to your shelves!
