I know digital magazines have been around for a while but I’ve not really been interested in digital versions. I guess like books, I much prefer to have a real copy. Somehow though this weekend I decided to give them a shot.
So I downloaded the Zinio app for my iPad and started looking around and it’s so easy to just click and buy a magazine that I think I will have to be careful otherwise I’m going to load up my iPad with a lot.
To start off with I decided to get World Literature Today, which I used to subscribe to quite a long time ago. I think lately I’ve realized that I don’t read as many authors from other parts of the world as I used to. Sure, I read a lot of British authors and a lot are favorites but there is a whole world out there to explore.
My other magazine is Vanidades. This is not my typical read but I know my mom also enjoys leafing through this one and it’ll be a good way for me to read in Spanish more frequently.
I have a wishlist of some other magazines I’d like to get but tell me, do you have any digital magazine subscriptions? Which ones do you enjoy?
You know you can get a lot of magazines through the Austin Public Library and Zinio. Just wanted you to know if you weren’t aware. And that would be free!
I don’t really read digital magazines. My husband just renewed our subscription to Entertainment Weekly and I guess a digital subscription came included. I don’t know if I’ll look at it that way, but I know my husband might.
I have Zinio on my iPad and I love it. I borrow digital magazines from the public library. Be sure to check and see if your library offers the service before you subscribe to too many out of your own pocket!
I have had the worst luck keeping up with magazines. I get really excited and then fizzle… Enjoy!
I haven’t tried digital either–will have to check that out!
Kay – I did not know that! Thank you for the tip. Of course now that means, I’ll add more magazines to my reading list 🙂
Literary Feline – My husband also reads several digital magazines and I’ve never been really interested before. We’ll see how I like this. It is pretty cool although I also kind of miss flipping the pages just like with a book!
Stefanie – Kay just mentioned that too! I am going to have to check that out although I’m scared to see how many more I’ll add. haha.
Kailana – Me too! For some reason I was getting several at home which I didn’t even sign up for, I guess they were free trial subscriptions but I liked them but not enough to really keep up with them. I definitely go through phases too.
Tiffany – You’ll have to let me know if you find some good ones!
I think I’d prefer something in hand as far as magazines go. I used to check the library regularly for certain magazines. I have 3 subscriptions that I think I’ll let go this year and maybe resume checking them out at the library.
