The first web site I visited today was the library site so I could check if they had Pardonable Lies by Jacqueline Winspear. I finished Birds of a Feather last night and I need to know what happens next! The library has it but it’s out right now so I placed a hold.
I liked Birds of a Feather a lot although it felt different than Maisie Dobbs. This one felt more like a mystery novel. There are clues, a revelation to uncover and a lot of sleuthing. While, Maisie Dobbs didn’t feel like a true mystery to me because it was more about the character of Maisie and not so much a whodunit.
I loved the first book and would highly recommend that even to non-mystery readers. Maisie is delightful and she’s a bookworm. Don’t you just love finding a series where you are so excited to read the next book?
Now I’ve started Full Dark House by Christopher Fowler for my Murder on Mondays book group. Hmmm, I’m not completely won over yet but we’ll see.
