Weekend Reading

I spent a wonderful morning; lounging in bed reading, indulging in Bahlsen choco biscuits, falling asleep and waking up to read again, which allowed me to finish The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Several of you mentioned that it was a good effort but didn’t quite live up to Interpreter of Maladies, and I agree. The Namesake had a good beginning, and also had some very affecting observations of life in a new country but the last half of the book was a bit of a letdown for me.

I’m curious if she’ll continue with a novels or if she’ll go back to short stories but supposedly the book is being turned into a movie. What do you think of that?

I wish tomorrow wasn’t Monday and I could get an extra day to indulge in my reading. Ah, well, I’m off to pick a new book, yet again trying to get as much reading done as possible.
