What I’m reading: Aside from the current reads I mentioned in a recent post, I’ve been reading The Switch by Beth O’Leary. I read her book The Flatshare a couple of years ago and thought it was great and this one is proving to be a lot of fun as well. I should be finished with it this morning!
What we’re watching: We finally finished Breaking Bad and also watched El Camino. Just wonderful. I can’t believe I resisted so long to watch these but really amazed at how the story lines developed and the acting. Now we’re watching Your Honor (which stars Bryan Cranston although in a much different character but very compelling too).
What made me smile: These past few weeks I’ve finally started seeing bluebonnets (Texas state flower) and other wildflowers. And, according to the forecast, this year the wildflower season should be a good one!
What we’re making: I can’t remember how I came across this Healthy Chickpea recipe but even though I just found it a couple of weeks ago we’ve already made it several times. It’s delicious and great as a leftover too!
What I’m praying for: My father-in-law was admitted to the hospital after he fell on Friday. Luckily no broken bones but he’s had some other health complications so if you can send a prayer his way we’d appreciate it. I’ve had several friends who’ve lost parents in the past several weeks/months and it’s just really hard to see our parents becoming more frail. It’s always a good reminder to hug your loved ones and spend a bit of extra time with them if you can.

The stories of Beth O’Leary are just what I need sometimes. I look forward to another book from this author.
We saw Bluebonnets and Texas Painbrushes everywhere on our trip this weekend. Stunning. One thing we do well here in Texas is wildflowers.

This one also had some good laughs! Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip. I think it’s time we go out for a drive to see more wildflowers. So much joy!

Best wishes to your FIL for a quick and complete recovery. I have an elderly relative in the hospital too, with lung problems and a nasty virus that is not covid. Wishing them both the best!
I love the Whitman quote! I need to try the chickpea stir-fry recipe, it looks good. Keeping your father-in-law in my prayers. It is so hard seeing our parents age.

It is tough seeing our parents get older! I hope your father-in-law makes a speedy recovery. Bluebonnets bring me joy, too! I think we’ll be getting a nice amount of wildflowers with all the rain we’ve been having.
I haven’t read The Switch or The Flatshare,, but I loved The Roadtrip and The No-Show so I’d like to try them sometime.

We don’t have bluebonnets up here in Missouri, but we’ve had more than our usual share of daffodils this spring. I’m really enjoying them.
I am sorry to hear about your FIL and said a prayer for him and the family. I hope he recovers quickly and is able to go back home soon. Everyone knows you don’t get any rest in the hospital. I hope you have a great week!

Rod & I loved Breaking Bad! I was looking at Your Honor, but I’m not ready to pay to watch it quite yet. I’m glad you’re seeing some pretty wildflowers. Not much blooming around here yet, but the rhoddies will start pretty soon. I’m so sorry to hear about your father-in-law’s fall. My mom has fallen a few times and it’s pretty scary. I hope he recovers quickly and can go home soon. Sending good thoughts his way!

How nice to see the bluebonnets blooming. We haven’t been in Texas to see them but we love to see lupines (which I believe are related to bluebonnets?) blooming in the northern states in the late spring/early summer. They smell so good.
