I recently saw some posts on Shelf Control and thought I need join in on that! Shelf Control hosted by Lisa of Bookshelf Fantasies “is all about the books we want to read — and already own! Consider this a variation of a Wishing & Waiting post… but looking at books already available sitting right there on our shelves and e-readers.”
I’ve lost track of how many books I have waiting to read. Let’s just say I have a lot of shelves double-stacked and filled with unread books. So I thought this would be a great way to remind myself of books I have and want to read.
For this edition of Shelf Control I decided to focus not just on one but several books. In particular a collection of books with Victorian settings. I love the timeframe and history and have read a lot of books set during this period but I still have a lot more to read. Here are some from my stacks:
A Foreign Affair by Caro Peacock. Secret agents, deceit and surprises.
Kept by D.J. Taylor. A decaying manse, poachers and two murders.
The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox. Murder, revenge and opium dens.
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. Sarah Waters enough said.
Angelica by Arthur Phillips. Ghosts, spiritualists, and family dynamics.
I want to read all of these right now. Good thing I do have these waiting on my shelves for me. Would love to hear if you’ve read some of these.
How about you, what’s one of your shelf sitters that you want to read? Or do you also have a collection?
