Poetry Quiz

Because you really want to know what form of poetry you are, here is another quiz via the Happy Booker.
What am I?

I’m terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I’m rarely on my own – a wasted day
Is any day that’s spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.

In other bookish notes, I finished two really good books recently. You can read my reviews for Except the Dying by Maureen Jennings and Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield by clicking on each title.

Book Sale

sale.jpg

Guess where we were today? My husband and I spent a sunny Sunday afternoon checking out the Borders book store closing sale. It was crowded but we still managed to snag a table in the cafe and shared a smoothie while we looked over our books.

We were happy with our book finds but still couldn’t help but feel sad about the closing. Not only was this store where we’d sometimes go have breakfast at on Saturdays, but it was also where my husband had a small collection of his calligraphy on exhibit. A shame to see the good stores go away isn’t it?

Anyway here’s my stash of books, and I even got a library book kit! For $5 it was too cute to pass up. I really wanted to buy more stuff but refrained. The book store’s final day is next Saturday so who knows I may just go back for more.

Library Visit

I had to return a few of the books I checked out on my last visit to the library, unread of course, but you know that didn’t stop me from getting a few new books. Here are the latest finds:

  • The Myth of You and Me by Leah Stewart. I didn’t participate in the latest discussion over at The Written Word but hopefully I’ll be ready for this next one.
  • Small Island by Andrea Levy. My friend Claire is joining the rest of Bristol in reading this book. She’ll be hosting a discussion on her blog so join in if you can.
  • Inamorata by Joseph Gangemi. Mesmerism and trances in Philadelphia during the Roaring 20s. Sounds kind of fun.

Oh and sad news, I just found out that one of the Borders book stores in the North Dallas area is closing. Apparently “it’s no longer economically viable” for them to remain in business at that location. You know, I don’t care if it’s an independant or a big chain book store but any time one closes it’s just depressing. Maybe the husband and I will go there this weekend to say “Adios.”
