Books in the Mail

Another good mail day at Casa Bookgirl. I got my little box from Barnes & Noble today and these are the goodies that arrived:

I also got The Ghost at the Table by Suzanne Berne, from a recent mooch. I can’t wait to start some of my new books but I’ve got quite a few others going on right now. Who knows maybe I’ll finish one tonight.

Not Reading Books

Today’s mail brought me a few goodies that are keeping me away from my books tonight. I got the March/April edition of Bookmarks Magazine. After a quick look through I’ve already added The Bastard of Istanbul by Elif Shafak, The Crimson Portrait by Jody Shields and Arlington Park by Rachel Cusk to my list.

I also received the latest New York Review of Books and I recommend it to any Haruki Murakami fans for this article alone. Of course the detail I zoom into is that apparently Murakami so captivates a global readership that in Taipei you can find a café named after one of his novels and a bar in Moscow offers a cannabis-laced drink in his honor.

Finally my latest find is CROQ Zine. For any of you crafters out there this is one not to miss. Issue 8 has articles on charity crafting, a pattern for a cute wristlet and some candy recipes – yum.
So tell me, are you reading anything else besides a good book?

I hope I have another good mail day tomorrow because I’m waiting on a box of books!

Poetry Quiz

Because you really want to know what form of poetry you are, here is another quiz via the Happy Booker.
What am I?

I’m terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I’m rarely on my own – a wasted day
Is any day that’s spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.

In other bookish notes, I finished two really good books recently. You can read my reviews for Except the Dying by Maureen Jennings and Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield by clicking on each title.
