I had such a hard time picking a new book to read this weekend. Don’t you hate it when that happens? I stared at my stacks of unread books, would pick up one only to put it back down. I still have lots of books to read for my reading challenges, and I have a lot of unread books that I am excited about reading one of these days but I just couldn’t find the right one.

Finally, I selected Don’t Look at Me Like That by Diana Athill and I think I’ve picked a good one. Here’s a blurb from the back cover: “In England half a century ago, well-brought-up young women are meant to aspire to the respectable life. Some things are not to be spoken of; some are most certainly not to be done. There are rules, conventions. Meg Bailey obeys them. Actually, I didn’t get a lot of reading done this weekend but that’s because I was out most of Saturday spending the day with a friend and today I did some crafting. So I need to catch up with my blog reading and my book reading.

Today was actually one of those days when you can’t seem to get things done. I spent most of the day on the phone with the bank, insurance, etc. So I was feeling a bit out of it and to top it off I hadn’t had time for blogs and reading. Luckily the evening was saved by a visit to Borders.

I spent a good part of the evening reading magazines like Paper Crafts and Somerset Studio. I’m contemplating making our Christmas cards this year so I wanted to get some inspiration. And, I used my the little 30% Off Coupon that I’d been hanging on to for a while on Silent in the Grave.
