Remember I had said I wasn’t going to take any library books out this summer? Well, I had to check some out this weekend. So I held out for about a month and a half and I think I did pretty well considering I pass by the library almost every day and I have been stopping in every other week or so to check out DVDs and books for my mom.
So let me tell you what I got:
The first book is actually one I checked out last week but I am not counting it as one of my normal reads as it’s more of a resource: Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit by Donna Farhi. Since the beginning of June I’ve taken my yoga practice to a new level as I’m doing yoga five to six times a week and to complement my practice I wanted to see this book in particular as it’s been recommended by some of my teachers.
The other book I checked out is Awakening by S.J. Bolton. Recently Danielle had a great review of one of Bolton’s books and then Jenclair also mentioned checking one out and well I just needed to be in the loop too. I haven’t read a good scary, creepy book in a while so I’m hoping this will be a good one.
The Twin by Gerbrand Bakker went into my book bag as well. This story is about a a young man who is forced to give up his dreams of going to college when his twin brother dies and he has to take over the family farm. Aside from the fact that the story sounds interesting, what caught my eye about this book is that it’s published by Rainmaker Translations which is a group dedicated to address the lack of books in translation that are published in the States.
Finally, my last book is A Dead Hand by Paul Theroux. Have you read any of his books? I’ve been meaning to but haven’t gotten around to them yet. The cover of this one was quite eye-catching and it does sound like an good thriller.
So those are my books from the library. Let’s see what I can read before the due date. Oh yes, and I placed a couple of others on hold. I have been able to get to some of my shelf sitters though so I think I’ll continue my library visits but try to keep my borrowing to a minimum.
I spent time this morning entering book titles into my Iphone so I can access them when I am out and about. The best thing about the library is that when I don’t finish a book, I don’t feel guilty about the money I spent.
I won’t borrow any books until October. I need to get through my TBR. Plus, it’s too hot to go out from car to the library.
I like Juliann’s comment about the library books! That’s so true, at least IMO! 😛
I borrowed only one book last week, since I had to return two books which I didn’t finish (they’re chunksters!).
I did get Dead Hand last week; great cover huh? I have not read it though.

I enjoyed Farhi’s book and am reading one by Mark Stephens right now that is also very good. Another great resource is Yoga Anatomy by Kaminoff.
I finished Sacrifice by Bolton and need to review it. Can’t wait to read my next Bolton!
Don’t even get me started on the willpower thing. I am already drowning in a sea of tempting books, and I just bought three more this weekend. I HAD to have them you see. Good luck on getting them read!!!

Isabel – Yea, if I wasn’t driving past the library all the time I probably wouldn’t feel so tempted and much less would want to go out in the heat but I pass by it on my way to and from yoga! So easy to just stop in and have a peek 🙂
Melody – I know, she’s got the right attitude! Oh chunksters… I do like long stories but I’ve not been interested in any chunksters in a while. I definitely won’t be checking any out as that’s a sure sign I would return them unread 🙂

jenclair – I think Kaminoff was at our studio recently! I should have gone but it was kind of pricey. I’ll have to see if the library has that book. I can’t wait to read your review of Sacrifice.
Sandy – Ha,ha.. I know! I keep accepting ARCs too which I need to stop. I’ve cut back but oh dear. I need vacation so I can fully enjoy books and nothing else!
I wish I could be as good as you’ve been. I’ve been going a little crazy with library books I’m afraid. I must stop requesting so many of them. I hope you like Awakening–I thought it a very creepy read. Enjoy your books.

Danielle – I sort of would like to put all my other books on hold and just start on that one! I’m really in the mood for a good thriller but I’m telling myself I need to finish at least one book before I start it.
