Well, not really new books as my recent acquisitions are from BookMooch and Half Price Books, but still new books to me. My mooches are:
Dissolution by C.J. Samson. From Publisher’s Weekly: Murders on the grounds of a monastery, 16th-century intrigue, an unconventional sleuth-readers might wonder if this is a knock-off Name of the Rose set two centuries later, but Sansom’s debut is a compelling historical mystery in its own right, with fewer pyrotechnics and plenty of period detail. Sounds interesting doesn’t it?
Wideacre by Philippa Gregory. From Publisher’s Weekly: Gregory’s full-blown first novel is a marvelously assured period piece, an English gothic with narrative verve. I haven’t read anything else by Gregory aside from The Other Boleyn Girl but I’ve meaning to read more.
I made a quick trip to Half Price Books the other day and used my 40% off coupon to get Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I loved Purple Hibiscus so I’m looking forward to this story. The other book was Ordinary Springs by Lenore Hart.
Better yet, I still have coupons to use the rest of the week so I’ll be taking advantage of those. Anyone else have coupons for Half Price Books?

I’ve been in the mood for historical mysteries, so I’ll definitely add this to my TBA (To Be Acquired) list. Have you read anything else by C.J. Samson ?
I loved ‘Dissolution’ and both the books that follow featuring the same character. It really is top quality historical detective writing. Sansom has also written a book set in Spain around the Civil War – ‘Winter in Madrid’, but so far that is still in my TBR pile.
I have a lot of points on bookmooch but I don’t know what to use them for. It’s tough to decide.
I got them but I am 500 miles away. So, I am not going to use them.
I have, unfortunately, not taken advantage of the coupons–yet
Gavin – I love historical mysteries. Love them! I haven’t read anything else by Samson but look at Ann’s answer. Sounds like it’ll be a treat!
Ann – Glad to hear you enjoyed that one and the ones that followed. I typically like my historical mysteries not that far back in time but this one sounded just too good to pass up.
Nik – It is tough to decide. I keep thinking I need to “save” my points.

I haven’t been able to find much that I am dying to have via bookmooch–either I want something that is not out there (and on everyone else’s list, too), or that is out there, but the person who owns it hasn’t checked in in 180 days! I keep accumulating points, though, so that’s okay. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of Wideacre–I have thought about buying that one. I’d like to read The Other Boleyn girl!

Danielle – I think you’d really like The Other Boleyn Girl. What I thought was interesting is that even though you “know” how the story ends it’s still a compelling read.

Iliana, I think you will love “Half of A Yellow Sun”….sad and heartbreaking as it was, I couldn’t have enough of it. “Purple Hibiscus”, too, was an absolutely beautiful book…I can’t wait to see what Chimananda Adichie treats us to next.
