Mysteries On My Radar

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANot sure how the week managed to fly by but it did. It felt like a long week but the weekend has started off on a great note. We just got back from a relaxing evening at the bookstore. Had my cafe mocha, read a good magazine and bought a book to make some snacks.

So I did make it to my book group this Tuesday and we had a fantastic discussion on Blood Salt Water by Denise Mina. Unfortunately most of us did not like the book but oddly enough it sparked a thought-provoking discussion. Next month we’ll be reading Deadline by John Sanford so that’s something to look forward to.

Since we are talking mysteries, I thought I’d do a compilation of some of the recent mysteries that have caught my attention. Some of these I’ve heard about through blogs or newsletters.

Lie in Plain Sight by Maggie Barbieri
The Buenos Aires Quintet by Manuel Vazques Montalban
Try Not to Breathe by Holly Seddon
The Visitor by Amanda Stevens
The Blood Strand by Chris Ould

Let me know if you’ve heard of any of these and if they’ve made it on to your radar. Right now though I’m super excited because I just got a Library Hold notification and the latest Maisie Dobbs is waiting for me.

Oh and if you are thinking of adding some criminal element to your t.v. viewing, we finished watching the second season of The Bridge, the Danish version, and I really like it. How about you, are you watching a good crime show I should know about?

I hope you all have a great weekend. I’ll be playing a lot of this while I’m doing some bookbinding. Yes, bookbinding is happening. I’ll tell you more about that next post!
