Musical Carousel

Again, thank you guys who visited via Michele. I’ve enjoyed reading your comments and visiting your sites. I hope you’ll make your way back to my reading stacks.

Today’s post is for Rory of Rory Thinks. She tagged me on this music meme. My taste in music is all over the place: Latin pop, indie rock, alternative, classical, etc. Just no country or rap, thank you. So here it goes.

Total amount of music files on your computer: 8287 songs in my iTunes library.

The last CD you bought was: Hot Fuss by The Killers

What is the song you last listened to before reading this message: Evil Ways by Santana

Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:

Eres Mi Religion by Mana. Mana is my favorite Mexican band. This love song is about finding the one person who makes everything all right and becomes your faith. Listening to this song makes me think of my husband.

Closer to Fine by Indigo Girls. I like what this song says about life, about our individual search for meaning and place in this world.

Ghost Train by Justin Sullivan. I like the poetic quality of this song. It’s soft and carries a certain peaceful atmosphere for me. It even inspired me to write a poem about riding night trains.

I’m No Angel by Heather Nova. This song is about surrendering and wanting to be endless and true. I know this is a love song but it’s also the song I heard right after the first time I read one of my poems out loud and that feeling was similar to being in love – exciting, scary and the most thrilling thing ever.

Pelo Suelto by Gloria Trevi – It’s all about grrrl power. About not caring what people say about you or following the crowd. It’s about being yourself. This song is for when I feel feisty.

Now the fun part – who am I going to pass this on to and why? The Three Cs

Christine – Because she’s got amazing taste in music and I always want to know what she’s listening to.

Claire – Because she is a songwriter and I’m curious to see what music she enjoys.

Cori – Because we share a love for books so maybe our musical tastes match too.

I promise a book related post tomorrow because it’s been too long and I’ve got to talk about the books I’ve been reading – everything from silly to serious.
