We may be getting closer to Fall but our temperatures here in Central Texas are still above 100 so as far as I’m concerned, Fall can’t get here soon enough! But first, let’s talk about this month. Definitely an improvement on the reading front.
I finished four books: The President is Missing by Bill Clinton & James Patterson, The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan, Little Big Love by Katy Regan and Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo.
All were enjoyable but my favorite by far was Sworn to Silence. As I mentioned in another post, this is a series I will be looking into again.
The one interesting thing about this month is that I’ve re-discovered audiobooks. They aren’t my preference but now that my commute is not too long I feel like I can do an audiobook. I know that may not make sense as you would think an audiobook would be perfect for a long commute but with the traffic and all it was just making me sleepy which is not what I was after!
I’ve started using the Libby App and like the ease of use. Have any of you used it for downloading library books? I need to figure out how I can put books on hold that way I have an audiobook lined up when I finish my current one.
I’m excited about September. Starting off, with a three day weekend, one of my family members is coming for a visit later in the month and it’s time for the R.I.P. Challenge! For now, have a great weekend everyone and if you are in the U.S., enjoy the Labor Day holiday. I know I will.
The heat and humidity are miserable here as well. I no longer “join” the R.I.P. challenge because I quit taking the time to list my books on the other site, but I still read the spooky and mysterious as if I were still taking part. Fall is the perfect time for this kind of reading, and I have a draft of some suggestions for the Challenge. I’m also playing with Halloween tags–nothing like pretending we get a real fall. 🙂
I’ve been using Overdrive to borrow digital books and audiobooks from my library, but they are also promoting Libby now. Haven’t used it yet and wonder if it’s easier or better than overdrive. Hope you share your experience if you decide to try it.
We are going to be visiting friends in Texas at the end of September and I’m hoping the temps drop a lot!! I wish we were going to have more time so I can visit some of my Texas blogger friends, but that will have to wait for a return trip. Our time is booked solid!

I am both happy and sad to see August come to an end. I need to get back into audiobooks. They aren’t my preferred way to read but I would like to aim for one a month at least. I just find myself doing or listening to other things instead . . . I hope you have a great weekend, Iliana, and an even better September!
I’ve been listening to more audiobooks this year too! My commute isn’t long, about 20 minutes, so I have to find other times/places to listen. They’ve been fun while crafting!
Have only tried an audio book once but didn’t really like the experience. I’m not sure if it’s the narrator or simply the format, but I think I’ll still stick to print or e-copies. 😉 Hope you’ve a great week!
