May Day

bookstoredayIt’s time to do a recap of the past month and look forward to what the new month will bring. I had a pretty good April. I finished five books and of those there was a bit of variety. Non-fiction, mystery and one book in translation.

The books I finished were: This Is Mexico by Carol Merchasin, An Age of License by Lucy Knisley, The Gone Dead Train by Lisa Turner, And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander and The Heart Has Its Reasons by Maria Duenas. Some I liked better than others but overall very enjoyable reads.

With regards to my reading challenges I seem to have stalled. I am reading one book right now that will count towards two reading challenges but yeah, I need to remember about these when choosing my next reads.

I’m still on a library ban although I do have an audiobook out. I am tempted to visit the library because I still need to return some books (now overdue I’m sure!) but I want to hold out just a little bit longer. I just want to read a bit more from my stacks.

For books this month, I’m carrying over some books from April, all great reads, so I’ll tell you more about those in another post and I really would like to re-visit with a favorite mystery series so I may be adding a new book soon. I am way behind on posts on ARCs, book reviews, you name it.

For now though, I’m focusing on having fun this weekend. I have family in town so probably not a lot of reading will be done but definitely a lot of laughing. We all need that.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget that May 2nd is Independent Bookstore Day so go out and visit your favorite Indie bookstore.
