I wasn’t planning to go to the library today because what I really needed to be doing was finishing up my book for book group tomorrow (I don’t think that’s going to happen) but I wanted to pick up two holds before they expired. So here’s what I got:
- Life After Life by Jill McCorkle. The book is about the lives of the residents, staff and neighbors of a retirement center. My last job I worked for a skilled nursing facility and it was tough. There were some very uplifting moments but then a lot of frustration, burn out, etc. I think working in healthcare really made an impact on me and while I’m not in healthcare any longer there are certain aspects I miss. Anyway, I think this book will be an interesting read and maybe one I can relate to on some level.
- Leaving Everything Most Loved by Jacqueline Winspear. It’s the latest Maisie Dobbs book! Enough said.
- The Start of Everything by Emily Winslow. Not one of my holds but the cover caught my attention. Set in Cambridge University this is a thriller. Now that I’m reading more of the book jacket it looks like this is the author’s second book. Hmm, I need to find out if it’s a standalone or a series before I start it.
- Wings Of Fire by Charles Todd. It’s been a couple of years since I read the first book in this series but I do remember I liked it a lot. I hate it when I wait too long to go back to a series but it’s hard to keep up with so many series I follow. Anyway, I am looking forward to this one.
Yes, I had said I was going for two holds and I walked out with four books. You know how it is. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books!

I’m reading Leaving Everything Most Loved right now and am enjoying it very much-can’t go wrong really with Maisie! I really would like to read the Inspector Rutledge books, too–I’ve read the first but it has been so long now that I think I would have to go back and reread it before thinking of going further into the series.
Danielle – Yay, so glad to hear you are enjoying it! I can’t wait to see what Maisie is up to this time.
