While at the bookstore the other day I glanced through the new book stacks and this novel caught my attention. Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson apparently is a classic I had never heard of, but because it now boasts a new cover and an introduction by Denise Chavez it’s on the new books stacks.
As I was reading the back cover I realized I had heard about this novel. As a matter of fact, I had watched the telenovela several years ago. Yes, I watch telenovelas. In an effort to redeem myself, I have to say that I don’t watch them often but sometimes it’s just a way to spend time with my mom or my grandma. They enjoy their Mexican soaps.
Ramona, the soap opera, was filled with lots of melodrama but it did have some beautiful costumes. Oh well, you learn something new every day.
So has anyone read this book? Does anyone else watch telenovelas? No, okay back to your reading and pretend this was never brought up.
