I’ve been having a lot of fun hanging out with my cousin this weekend. We made the obligatory trip to the mall (she’s 18) and lucky for me she’s also a bookworm.
When she was in her early teens she was reading books by Lurlene McDaniel. I think all of these romances involve someone dying. Nothing says love like teen angst I guess.
Now that she’s older she’s moved away from YA novels and was looking at books in the fiction & literature section. As she saw two rows filled with The Notebook she turned to me and said, “I think this author wants to be like a Lurlene McDaniel for adults.”
I thought that was quite cute. She said she wasn’t into those books anymore but then I noticed she had her arms full of chick-lit books. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still read chick-lit every once in a while but maybe I should sneak in some other kind of book in her pile don’t you think?
