I had told myself that I wouldn’t start another book until I finished one of the four I have going on but I picked up a new one today. I needed a mass market size paperback that I could take to the gym and read when I ride the stationary bike. That size is just much easier to handle. Anyway, how’s that for a silly excuse to start a new book? Tell me I’m not the only one who comes up with these excuses.
So, which book did I take with me? The Mermaids Singing by Lisa Carey. I read about 40 pages and so far I like it. It’s interesting because another book I’m reading, The Last Summer (of You & Me) by Ann Brashares, is also set in a beach community. Hmm, right now I wouldn’t mind being on the beach reading one of these books!
This weekend I hope to finish up at least one of my current books, and other than that I’m looking forward to a movie with a friend. Let the weekend begin!
Have a great weekend!
No you’re not the only one. I’ll always choose a paperback, mm is best but trade if necessary, for commuting on the train. Hardbacks stay home.
Alleluia to the weekend!
I am go to a gelato place to knit on Saturday.
Then, just for a little bit to the Creole Tomato Fest to eat some Latino food!
I am happy it’s Friday! I say — whatever excuses works for you…. 🙂
You will have to tell me all about Waitress, I have really been wanting to see that movie. Our friends from Austin are up for one night Saturday as their band is playing at the Double Wide. Should be fun. I might try to get out and take some photos (weather dependent) and hopefully get to start the Book Thief.
Dorothy W. – Happy Weekend!
Tanabata – I knew it 🙂 I love hardbacks but those are reserved for reading at home.
Isabel – You’ve got some lovely weekend plans. Now I want gelato too! ha,ha. I’ll give you a call this weekend.
Christine – Happiness is friday isn’t it! You guys have fun going to Double Wide. I can’t wait to hear about the concert.
Absolutely not a silly excuse for starting a new book! I’m glad to find out that others sometimes choose books to read based primarily on size, or ease of carrying about.
OMG I can never read when I’m working out! You probably need a bookweight to secure your book in place?!? 🙂
I usually find it difficult to splash around in more than 1 book at a time, unless I’m reading a nonfiction. I would get the plot and characters all mixed up.
Have a good weekend.
My stationary bike is broken and so it’s now soley the cat’s lookout. It’s one of those problems that will require replacement of the entire bike. We really need a new one . . .
I hope you have a good weekend. I hope to get a lot of reading done. That’s always my wish. We’ll see if it actually happens. LOL
Good for you on exercising! Congrats.
If you manage not to get dizzy, that’s great.
Read on! Watching TV while biking can get boring.
Same sad news all the time.
I love the stationary bike because it’s the only exercise I can do while reading! I only take paperbacks to the gym, too…
Tara – For travel too I only want to carry smaller books. Just means I can pack more!
Matt Y. – Well, I can only do it when I’m on the bike. I know some people read while on the treadmill and that I don’t like to do. As long as I’m not reading all mysteries then I can read several otherwise I might mess up on the clues 🙂
Literary Feline – I did get a lot of reading done? Hope you got some too!
Isabel – My gym does have TVs but all I ever see on there are reality shows. Yuck. I rather read or listen to my iPod.
Gentle Reader – I finally realize that it does help to read to make the time go by faster on the bike! Still I do have to drag myself to the gym. I wish it was something I loved 🙂
