I feel like it’s been forever since I mentioned the last book I read. It all stems from feeling quite sluggish lately. Must be the heat. Don’t worry, I have been reading, just at a slower pace. However, I hope to have some free time this weekend and catch up.

Yesterday I finished Owls Well that Ends Well by Donna Andrews. This is the sixth book in the Meg Langslow series and this is where I part ways with the series. The first couple of books were funny and filled with quirky characters, but I feel like each subsequent book is just like the first one. The main character, Meg, is always faced with the same situations; find a killer while keeping the zany family in check.

My lunch break book is Hotel Paradise by Martha Grimes. I’m really enjoying this book but it’s taken me so long to finish it because I have either had some lunch meetings or have had to cut my lunch short. I think some long lunch breaks are called for don’t you?

Finally, last night I started The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. I only got to chapter two before I fell asleep (I was really tired) but I’ve liked what I’ve read so far. I really loved Interpreter of Maladies so I hope this second novel lives up to that one.

Tomorrow I also plan to catch up on some magazine reading. Big thanks to Kathy, who sent me a David Sedaris essay. I am looking forward to reading it. I’ve also got issues of Lucky, Glamour and Bookmarks magazines to read.

I hope everyone has a weekend filled with lots of good books.
