Checked Out

Instead of spending the evening at home and catching up on my reading I went to the library for a good browse, and here’s what I checked out:

Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie. This is the November pick for my foreign authors book group.

She Got Up Off the Couch by Haven Kimmel. I really enjoyed Zippy so I want to read more of Haven’s adventures.

Still Life by Louise Penny. This is the first of a new mystery series set in Canada.

In Lucia’s Eyes by Arthur Japin. Story about a servant girl in 18th century Europe. Salons, the Enlightment and even Casanova are all a part of this novel.

How Elizabeth Barrett Browning Saved My Life by Mameve Medwed. With a title like, and the jacket blurb stating it’s a novel for those who enjoy flea markets and Antiques Roadshow I couldn’t pass it up.

I want to read all the books but let’s not make any bets on how many I actually read before having to return them. Sigh.

Currently I’m reading The Black Book by Ian Rankin and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Good stuff.

P.S. Don’t forget to visit the Online Book Fair. Lesley was one of the lucky winners yesterday.
