In this collection of short stories love is explored in many ways. Whether seen through the eyes of a young child, a young woman or even a family pet. Each story has vivid characters and some laugh out loud scenes.
It would be easy to classify this as another chick-lit book if the cover is any indication but the stories in this collection aren’t sappy or superficial. Instead they are quirky and complex perhaps best exploring how love comes in different ways and packages.
Out of the 12 stories my favorites were “Gus Hunts for a Job”, "After the Season" and "True to her Word."
What surprised me about this book is that despite the unconventional characters or settings I didn’t find it difficult to accept each story. For example, Gus the main character in one story is a clever English Mastiff looking for new employment.
Ms. Pedersen has penned a winning combination of sweet and funny stories.
