Maisie Grey may be divorced from her mama’s-boy of a husband, Rex, but unfortuantely she still has to deal with her MIL-from-hell. For Mrs. Pollock Maisie was just never good enough for her son and she let her know it. Unfortunately Maisie can’t keep Mrs. Pollock out of her life as she has a teenager and she wants to let her son have a relationship with his grandmother but this just means that the two women now clash over Tommy.

Tommy is a good teenager. He does well in school, keeps a good relationship with his dad and mom but Tommy has a new girlfriend, a girl who is a bit of a surprise to the family. Maisie’s goal is to not become just like her mother-in-law but when her teen’s girlfriend is sporting piercings, black nail polish and wants to spend the night in her son’s room, no less, how is she supposed to react?

No doubt Maisie has her hands full, trying to be a cool mother, yet maintain the upper hand in the relationship, but she also has her business to run and an employee to mentor. Oh yes, and is her new relationship really going that well after all?

There are a lot of kooky characters, people you think you know from your life and situations that are decidedly off-beat but the author does a good job of making it feel real. A very enjoyable read.
