Solomon vs. Lord

I’ve usually shied away from Legal thrillers because they tend to be dry reading but Solomon vs. Lord has renewed my faith in them.

The novel opens with Steve Solomon, a lawyer who’s mantra is when the law doesn’t work, work the law, being held in a cell next to Victoria Lord, a by-the-book prosecutor. They’ve just been held in contempt of court over their arguing during an illegal bird-ring case.

Matters only get worse for Victoria after she’s fired and just when she thinks she can land her own high profile case, she realizes she is going to have to join forces with Steve Solomon to represent a wealthy widow who’s been charged with murdering her husband during a kinky, wild night.

Along with having a high profile case to deal with both have complicated lives to sort through. Steve is trying to hang on to his guardianship of his nephew and meanwhile Victoria tries to rationalize why she should marry the Avocado magnate. While both attorneys are as different as night andday as they work together they learn valuable lessons from one another.

The mystery is not very complex in this novel but a cast of quirky characters, the flying sparks and witty repartee keep this novel engaging and moving at a fast-pace. I’ll definitely be looking for the second novel in this series.
