In Kim Harrison’s Cincinnati, witches, werewolves, and vampires roam the Hollows. After a deadly virus spread throughout the world, the human population is the minority and the Indelanders, those non-humans who’ve always walked among us, finally made themselves known and took their place in society.

Rachel Morgan lives in this urban fantasy. She is a sassy, smart bounty hunter who also happens to be a witch. After a series of some setbacks in her job she decides to branch out on her own. However, to do so she’ll have to accept taking on Ivy, a living vampire, as an associate.

Rachel has a price on her head and must deal with all sorts of attacks by someone who wants her dead. Lucky for Rachel, she also has a pixie sidekick, Jenks, who’ll help get her out of trouble, and there will be lots of trouble.

I thought the author did a great job of setting up the scene and telling us the back-story of how this world and the inhabitants came to be. By the end of the novel she’s got you hooked and looking forward to what happens next.

A good entertaining story filled with a lot of action scenes and a good dose of humor to keep you turning the pages.
