Hurting Distance

Naomi Jenkins is a sundial designer. She has a good career, her own home and an attentive lover. He is married and that's a problem but she knows it's her she loves and so for a while now she is content to know that at least she can count on Robert to be with her every Thursday evening.

But when he fails to show up at their usual hotel she knows something is wrong. Naomi calls the police but is met with indifference. Detective Sergeant Charlie Zalier tries to reason with her that perhaps he is just gone away or is showing her that the relationship is ended but Naomi knows that something must be wrong.

Naomi makes her own inquiries and after a visit to Robert's house and an alarming encounter with is with, Juliet, she knows she has to convince the police department to do something. She'll even go so far as to reveal a secret so painful and blame Robert so that the police will search for him. The search for Robert soon uncovers horrible crimes and a race to get to the truth begins.

It was a bit hard for me to like some of the main characters. Naomi's obsessive behavior was a bit over the top and I could never get a firm imagine in my mind of Detective Sergeant Charlie Zalier. The plot can be a bit convoluted but if you just accept the twists then you will be in for a good thrill.
