The Rest Falls Away

In the glittering ballrooms of Regency London, young women wear beautiful gowns and practice the art of flirtation in hopes of landing a rich and handsome husband. The same is true for Victoria Grantworth who is making her season debut but what most people don't know is that beneath her silky gowns she carries a wooden stake. She is not only out to capture the heart of an eligible bachelor but to stop the evil that lurks among them – vampires.

Victoria comes from a long line of vampire hunters. As a Gardella she has accepted her destiny and under the tutelage of her aunt Eustacia, a former Venator (vampire hunter) she learns fighting and survival skills.

Victoria finds it thrilling to fight vampires. After all how many young ladies in her position can enjoy such freedoms but when the matter between love for a Marquess and a sense of duty come into question which will she choose and at what price?

To complicate matters, a powerful vampire, Lillith, is amassing a frightful army of vampires to locate the Book of Antwartha, and it is up to Victoria and another Venator, Max, to reach the book first. Thank goodness Victoria is no simpering miss because she'll have to stand her ground against Max as well as he doesn't seem to think she can handle vampires on her own. And, she still has to attend her fair share of balls and social events.

This is a delightful book with plenty of thrills and some surprises for the reader. Colleen Gleason has added her own touch to the vampire lore and has nicely set up the reader for the next book in the series.
