Booked by 3

It didn’t snow. I didn’t get to miss work. I didn’t make any headway with my stacks of books. Needless to say, I was a bit grumpy this morning when I didn’t even see a flake outside my window.

So no book reviews or literary news today. Instead I’ll take Shelly’s Booked By 3 and add my own answers. If you post your own let me know.

Name the titles of 3 books (not necessarily the books, themselves) that you particularly like

The Girl in the Flammable Skirt by Aimee Bender
Soy La Avon Lady & Other Stories by Lorraine Lopez
The Idiot Girl’s Action-Adventure Club by Laurie Notario

I haven’t read any of these books but the titles make them sound fun don’t they?

Name 3 characters you found memorable and the books they appeared in.

Ignatius J. Reilly from A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Turtle from The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver
Jean-Baptiste Grenouille from Perfume by Patrick Suskind

I pray that Hollywood doesn’t get a hold of these books because I can’t imagine anyone playing these fascinating characters

Give 3 favorite first lines and the books they came from.

It was inevitable: The scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love. From Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

No one who had ever seen Catherine Moreland in her infancy, would have supposed her born to be a heroine. From Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

We came on the wind of the carnival. From Chocolat by Joanne Harris
