Beeswax & Books

What happened to the weekend? I had a good one but it certainly wasn’t long enough. Aside from meeting friends for a movie, cleaning and running errands, I also took a class on Saturday.

The Craft Guild of Dallas is one place I enjoy taking bookbinding classes at and this time I did a workshop on Beeswax collage. It was fun to try something new but I don’t think I’ll be using the technique again. I don’t like the “tackiness” you can still feel on the canvas and which apparently never really goes away.

In book news I’m still reading A Widow for One Year by John Irving. I like the story and I’m interested in the characters but this book could have used some editing. I feel like there is too much extra stuff that doesn’t really add to the enjoyment of the book.

On the other hand, I zipped through Gallows View by Peter Robinson and have started the second book in the series, A Dedicated Man – so far so good.

Tonight was my Mystery Book group meeting and I was glad to hear that I was not the only one who didn’t care for the Sugar Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke. I like cozy mysteries but this one was just too much. The best part of the evening was the annual book exchange. I got Michael Connelly’s Chasing the Dime. Anyone read this one? Any good?

That’s it for tonight. I’ve got another book group tomorrow – wee!
