Altered Book Progress

bluepocketsMy altered books class is over but I wanted to show you a couple of more pictures from my book in progress. Here are two pages that I painted over in a bright aqua color and although it’s pretty intense you can still see some of the text underneath.

And, can I just tell you I’m in love with this color lately! I find myself reaching for it when I’m working on my art journal all the time.

Next, I folded the pages so you can see the pages underneath. On those I just used some scrapbook papers to create a background. The goal is to attach each blue page to one with the scrapbook page. Either with double-sided tape on the bottom or maybe even some stitching. But my goal is to create pockets.

spraypaintThe next set of pages I decided to again use some gesso as a base layer and then I used spray ink and a stencil. I haven’t had much success using spray inks before and I think it’s because I wasn’t priming the background. Most papers I was using seemed to just soak up the ink. This time I was happy with the results.

I used bit of stamping here and there. This page is not finished either but the background is sort of there and now to decide what to do next.

I had a great time in my class and wish it was still going on. It’s so fun to be able to discuss/share tips and ideas with others. Let’s see what I sign up for next year. No doubt the bookbinding/paper arts classes will always be calling my name but I really would love to take an embroidery class. I think I’ve mentioned that before. Maybe next year I’ll make it happen.

washiAnd, remember I told you I had a washi tape obsession? Here’s my stash:

Ok, next up hopefully a book review. I finally have finished some books and want to tell you about those.
