Goodbye Poetry Month

I didn’t even get a chance to celebrate National Poetry Month on my blog this year but why stop at celebrating poetry just one month out of the year right? I wish I could tell you that I’ve read some great poems lately or been to some poetry events but I haven’t had the chance to do that either. Hmm…

But I did write my own poem thanks to InstaPoem. Hee, hee.  Go check it out and write your own. I know it’s hard to read but here’s mine:

April has come and gone so quickly. I feel like my reading was really way off this month too but I started a new book last night which has been so delightful. I promise to tell you about that one very soon.

I agree with you, poetry deserves a year long celebration every year :) Love you poem! Now I’m going to go try one!

I loved the link to Instapoem. Here’s mine:

It was the day we laughed so hard
    we made the roses bloom

    I was nine
    it was sunny

    we were running like giraffes
    a game of softball
happiness all balled up in our arms
shooting out of us in shrieks and bellows

    I’m a dog
    she declared

and I decided I was too

    a courageous dog
    with nothing to do
    but chase the wind

they say it whips you in the face
but this isn’t how it works
    if you run hard enough
the wind bores right into you

    I don’t remember anything else
except the smell of the pool
    sweet as ice cream

the wind carried the rest away

I was thinking the same thing, today — why celebrate for just a month? Poetry is for year-round enjoyment. But, I still did manage to slap up a poetry post, a day late. I pre-dated it, so it would say it was posted in April. Haha. Love your poem!

I’m so glad you had a chance to observe the month’s celebration of poetry. And thank you so much for sharing the InstaPoem. xo
